I sat out in the rain for a couple of hours tonight. This nice mature doe came out onto the field @ 5:40...I watched her for 10 minutes hoping a big buck would show up. Finally, she offered me a 10-yd. chip shot that I couldn't pass up. The Rocket Steelhead zipped through her like she wasn't even there, taking out both lungs and exiting through the heart. She made it 50 yds and piled up...

Congrats WNYBow.... Sunday there was alot of rut actvity, last night it seemed like easly Oct with a 3 or 4 yr old tolerating a 2.5 yr old and the only chasing was a 1.5 yr old bird dogging some does.

The 3/4 yr old kept just outside of my range... he was a nice tall 8 with ivory colored antlers.

Western - I think your observation is spot on - I think it was due to the afternoon being the first real tolerable weather conditions in two days and the deer were putting on the feed bags. I mean, obviously they eat in the storm, but probably not as much as they would otherwise and this opportunity was higher on the life ladder for them. Calories...lol.

I admit, the last pic is kind of deceiving with the deer propped up on my legs. She dressed 125lbs. It's tough doing a one man photo shoot...gotta set the self timer and run back to get into position before the camera goes off. It's a pain in the butt...lol.

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

      Hey All,
New to the forum, already missing the deer season and have curiosity to quell. This was a great non-typical I was chasing all season in a bow-only area of Ithaca. Anyone know or hear of a non-typical of this caliber being killed? I'll be out scouting for him aggressively soon enough. Thanks!
      Nick

Hello folks. I'm a novice hunter from almost Central NY. I live amongst the cow fields about 20 minutes south of the ADK park. I'm here hoping that I can learn from those who know more than I do. That's probably most of you. LOL. This is my second season and so far I still have all of my tags. I have a rifle but I'm not comfortable shooting it in the area I hunt due to people being near. I'm hoping to fill at least one of my tags before Dec 19.
