who carries a pistol

How many of you carry a pistol, as a back up or finish off gun, during gun season? I don't but a friend keeps harping on me to start. Just talked to him a while ago and he started in on me again.

I will carry my pistol when I hunt with a gun, mostly because its the only time I can carry it.

Its just a nice tool to have if you need it!

I do, for protection, backup, etc. Rifle/shotgun always primary though

I hunt some with my encore pistol in 7-08. I also carry my 45 lc ruger black hawk when I am out with a rifle or ml during regular season.

I always carry a pistol in the woods.I have finished off a few deer,can't see another rifle round when I am a few feet away.

I carry during bow (don't tell) but never felt the need during gun season. But I do see the point as far as finish off gun goes.

Carry Glock 21 (.45) or Ruger GP100 (.357 Mag) in southern zone. Found the GP a little heavy in the field, so Rossi 1892 in .44 mag deer gun, G21 side arm is my combo

i carry a S&W 460 8 3/8" barrell.....this year I think the long gun will stay in the safe

Hum I carry everyday, from cutting the grass to walking the dog, so yep deer hunting is no different .

Isn't it against the law to carry a firearm while bowhunting or does that just apply to rifle/shotguns? Not like I can get a pistol anyways...

Yes it is, and thats why he said don't tell. Two guns are always better then one so yes i carry..

If I ever hear back on my pistol permit I will carry while hunting. I submitted the application on april 18th of this years, it feels like I have been waiting for 5 years to hear back. The worst part about it is my mother works with the person who does part of the background check in this county and it hasn't even crossed his desk yet.

I carry my Smith and Wesson .357 during gun seasons. Mainly for a finish off gun if needed (rarely) but if one comes in to bow range I would consider using it as a primary. Not worth the risk to carry during bow season or muzzleloading,

yes, it is illegal to carry any kind of firearm while bowhunting.

Why can't you get a pistol license? Have you been denied before?

Last season was my first season with the pemit and thanks to Cabin Fever I brought along my new to me 357. I will be doing the same this year. I will even carry it when I take out my encore pistol in .308 win.

I never have. I guess I don't see the need when I already have my rifle with me and it adds extra weight.

pistol rounds are less expensive than most rifle rounds.

I don't see the need to carry a handgun and a rifle at the same time. Just doesn't make sense to lug the extra weight.

Leave the rifle at home and hunt with just the handgun.
