Doc
1) Between being a rock star ( Ted Nugent ) and hunting ? 2) Nascar racing and hunting ? 3) College football and hunting ? One has absolutely nothing to do with the other , but I see it whenever I look at a Cabela's catalog . I hope it's not for advertisement purposes , because they won't get a dime from me . I can't stand the combinations. I really don't know where or why these kinds of activities became related to hunting. Obviously Ted Nugent being an out-spoken hunting and 2nd Amendment public supporter caused him to insert himself as a defender of hunting, but I have no idea where the hook-up between Nascar drivers and some team sports participants came from. For some reason the hunting manufacturers decided that there was some benefit to connecting these people with their products. It's probably some study of the demographics of hunter populations that show a common interest. I have to admit that I absolutely don't fit into whatever profiles they came up with, because other than boxing, I really have no interests in any of the common team sports. And, as far as Nugent's music, I have to admit that that kind of 'squealy' heavy metal style rock is exactly the thing that drove me into listening to country.....lol. So I think they are probably barking up the wrong tree with me, but maybe most other hunters like to identify with all these kinds of people. And maybe attaching their names and personalities to hunting manufacturers products really does make a difference in sales.

growalot
I always assumed due to the Bass Pro connection to NASCAR for years ...It's purely advertising ...for they sponsor the cars...Ted is also an out doors hunting "celebrity" nothing to do with his music...IMO.... and Foot ball..again I'm sure the Cabela's logo will be prominent on the NFL scene if it's advertising and buying time slots... I've lived all my life upstate ( Little Appalachia), except for a couple years when I was working for Uncle Sam and living on a tin can which was home ported first at the Brooklyn Naval Yard and then at Ft. Schuyler, da Bronx..
tuckersdaddy
OUCH !............. I love beer and football as much as the next guy , but you wont find me wearing a camouflage Notre Dame baseball cap. In fact , I bet you wont find the players wearing one either. I'll admit that I don't care for Nascar ( turn left , turn left , turn left ) , when do you think the camouflage LeBron James sneakers will hit the market ? left, left, left....... in NY nascar turns right! The correlation is simple, It doesn't matter what you do or who you are, this sport welcomes everyone. As far as the advertising works.... you have to stay relevant with your core group, but you grow with new blood. And if Lebron wears camo sneakers, maybe it will get some of us beer drinking, nascar watchers to acknowledge the knicks still exist. wdswtr
There are several drivers who hunt, there are several that have appeared on hunting shows, there are a couple that have a hunting show, there are some team owners that when not at the track are on a safari hunt or in a tree stand somewhere in the US. Racing is a redneck sport and so is hunting lol. Football on the other hand? Cant stand it wont watch it and it makes no sense to me why a bunch of guys would want to wear tight pants, jump on top of each other and then slap each other on the arse to congratulate them for what I dont know. Just seems a tad.... well gay to me.

Water Rat
When you consider a wrestling match starts with one guy down on all fours , and his opponent wraps his arm around his waist , while holding onto his elbow...........you tell me what's gayer ! Lol
NFA-ADK
All about advertising and fan base like Wooly said. I am a big MMA fan. College football, racing and ted all have huge fan bases but I watch none of them. I did not get upset when Brock Lesnar advertised hunting products, I was shocked to see him stalk a deer though... It is plain and simple, big sponsors have big money and can get a larger fan base by sponsoring these types of events and people. The simple correlation is Fame and fan base. These people, games and races all have young males who follow them and idolize them. If they use and sponsor lost camo and a Mathews bow they will get their fan base to purchase the same things... Big money companies know this and exploit it and the celebrities get paid... Even though I am not into watching cars circle for hours or watching football or Ted. These things are as American as apple pie... Just because you do not watch them has nothing to do with you NOT being among them... You do not have to watch these things to be a red blooded American. Love your country, family, friends and help your neighbor as much as possible this is a red blooded American to me!
Paula
Think its kinda odd that you would have gay thoughts when it comes to sports, you might be feeling uncomfortable for a reason. Maybe you need to admit something to yourself. Free yourself

wdswtr
Well yeah wrestling seems gay as well. Yes I have sat down and watched a few games, two boys play football. It takes all of about 2 minutes before I want to get the hell out of there. Yes I know the basic rules of football. The biggest downfall to the sport is the damn waiting all the time, Timeouts,10 minutes to get a play organized that lasts a few seconds. If they took all the bs out of the sport I think a football game would last all of 20 minutes, its like watching commercials on tv. Nascar might go in circles but heck at least something is happening all the time and not waiting for the next big play just to watch someone get smashed in the dirt lmao.
