Cabin Fever
Curious who uses one of those deer carts and how easy are they for getting deer out of areas with no paths? Are some better than others? Debating...
TheTruth2
Yes. They are awesome as long as you get one with bigger tires. That thing has saved me so much effort in the past.
fasteddie
Bought one but never used it to haul deer . I used mine to transport ladder stands .
clayshooter25
I shot a deer in the same exact spot the past 2 years. First time it took me almost 3 hrs to drag it out. Last year I was back at my car in about 30 minutes. Definitely go for a cart!
WNYBuckHunter
Ive used mine. Has the big wheels on it. Works great! You can even rig it up behind an ATV if you dont pull it too fast.

wheelieman
Get the cart, You will have people calling you to use it lol
Water Rat
I've used a cart in the past......a lot easier than dragging . I consider mine as a poor man's ATV.
BizCT
How does the cart work over logs n stonewalls? Also, steep hills does it tip? Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Water Rat
You can navigate it over logs , but not stone walls . As long as the deer's secured on the cart , steep hills are do-able. It helps if your young , in shape and a non smoker.

Probably easier just sticking with a drag rope or by hand. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Water Rat
Yeah................stone walls present a problem . You would have to remove the deer from the cart and hump both over the wall and start all over again .
Culvercreek hunt club
I would opt for a 4 wheeler...lol
BizCT
I would opt for a 4 wheeler...lol Would be nice, but most lands around me prohibit them. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
WNYBuckHunter
I would opt for a 4 wheeler...lol You can get a cart for less than $100 if you keep an eye out.
phade
Sleds and carts can be useful tools. I use my cart more to bring in stands and my decoy than anything. Sleds get deer out easier and are better for packing in the truck...cheaper too.
landtracdeerhunter
I personally think a deer cart would be handier than ...... for some situations. It's on my , to do list to make.
Carbonelement
cart is great...you do not mess up the hide, its so much easier than dragging even if u come to a wall just pick the deer up over the wall and out it back on the cart. And if there are walls u can go around them with the cart its easy u can go a few hundred yds out of your way around a wall and still take half the time and a quarter of the energy. last year i forgot my cart and had to drag a big ol doe up a hill that normally takes me 10 min with the cart and i was there for like an hour or more just using the brute force method. Id honestly walk 100 yds to get the cart for a 30 yd drag if i had to, its just so nice and easy.
cdmckane
The private land I hunt I can drive my pickup to within 100 yds, usually feet if I get them in the fields. The state land, however, I use a plastic child's sled.
cynthiafu
we use a cart . and we just go around rock walls if we cant go around . the two of us girls just pull it over . one with big wheels is the key .
Five Seasons
only good for relatively flat terrain. I bought the cheaper steel kind from gandermountain. I want to say $50? the aluminum is more but if you're decently strong it doesn't matter. Only issue I ever have is my neighbors 4-wheel/buggy trail that we use. The wheels on my cart are just the right size so that they don't fit in the ruts and they're too wide to fit between. very annoying haha. Cabin Fever
Bet a cart would be nice for getting a bear out too, as they don't seem to have any good "handles"!

CuseHunter
I strap the deer right to the rack on the back of the wheeler. And if there is two deer, I tie a collar around its neck and tie the other end to the wheeler and they slide nice on the snow and leaves they always slide on their side so leaves stay out of the field dressed area. It sounds and looks barbaric but it works and I quite frankly don't care as it is effective.
ncountry
We use one of cabelas heavy duty deer carts on our annual trip to Letchworth sp. It works great .except for the hills that you cannot walk up ..lol.4 of us hunt together .we have strapped 2 larger deer to a cart and wheeled them out. 2 people pulling ,one pushing ,and one carrying all the weapons. The back person just lifts up the back when you come to obstacles that you cannot roll over.
