AaronBlaine
hey guys I am looking for a knockout backstrap marinade recipe, Anyone have any really good recipes for a marinade? thanks
Early
Why marinate the backstraps? Save the marinade for the tough cuts!
CuseHunter
I don't marinade them unless I'm cooking for some non-hunter and want to get rid of any game taste. I like to use balsamic vinaigrette
Lawdwaz
Wegmans Lemon & Garlic. Grill it hot & fast, RED in the middle!

mac
for straps, just a little cracked black pepper. heat pan to med/high and melt little butter then nice sear all around . once in awhile I'll put a shot or 2 of bourbon in the pan after the first flip.

genesee_mohican
I second the Italian Dressing marinade. Let it soak for overnight and then grill.
PREDATE
All good suggestions. You could try a few methods and let your guests decide what they like. Personally I just slice the strap in 1/4" slices. Get the skillet hot and flash fry them in butter with a little garlic salt and maybe black pepper. Melts in your mouth! Enjoy!
Hock3y24
I use a lil black pepper, salt, cayenne, pan searing flour, hot skillet with olive oil.

TeeBugg
Italian dressing and some syrup! Been doing it for years and man is it yummy!
AaronBlaine
huh interesting thanks a lot guys I will try some of em out. I would have no problem with no marinade as I love the taste however my guests are going to be new to it so I don't want them to be turned off with my meal! Doewhacker
If you really want to fool them then top it with some Balsalmic glaze or even a Sherry reduction and melt some Goat cheese on top.Maybe add some Shalotts and mushrooms. UpstateNomad90
If marinading them is a must, I like to get the Jack Daniels marinade bags from my local grocer or Walmart, Cut them up in strips and soak for 1-2 days and they are killer. Early
Sheesh....A lot of guys apparently do not like venison. To alter the natural flavor of venison with some sissy marinade is a crime! If you don't like it...Don't shoot it!

Fletch
little Italian dressing and a splash o liquid smoke. Grilled whole and red in the center. Never cut up a loin till after it rests! Yummy. Also best tip I can give is trim every little piece of non meat of any venison. And never get deer hair on it that will make it taste off bad. UpstateNomad90
Sheesh....A lot of guys apparently do not like venison. To alter the natural flavor of venison with some sissy marinade is a crime! If you don't like it...Don't shoot it! You sir must live a boring life, I would bet almost everything you eat has some sort of flavoring added to it to enhance its taste. Remember that next time you put ketchup on your hotdog, Montreal steak seasoning on your steak or some other flavor enhancing substance. Early
Lawdwaz, you are a jerk! Someone doesn't like what you like, and you call them ignorant. Surely your favorite venison is "doctored" to taste like magazine cardboard....That's what you think venison should taste like! OK, everybody....Lawdwaz has spoken: Do what you can to make real good venison taste like spicey cardboard! That's what he likes!!!
