The x-bows I have inspected seem a little heavy for me, but I will adapt if this is the way to stay in the woods during bow season as I pass into the youth of my old age. At least the bickering will settle down so we all can now just concentrate on hunting.

Its all about money and sales for the DEC.. I bet they will let the masses play in the time givin this year to use them, watch the use and how many and then if the demand is there, give it a home of its own.

 They dont want to push any hunters out. They want and need as many hunters as they can get. With the drop in hunters every year it will be interesting watching it play out.

Its not church, but its against the forum rules. We are pretty lenient with the rule and just clean it up unless someone wants to blatantly throw it in someones face after being asked a few times to stop. Just please keep it clean.

stopped in Utica Basspro on my way home form Albany yesterday. A while isle of crossbows in there.  I had to take a number at the end of  the isle just to go look.  The frenzy is starting.  2 crossbows in every house and 3 deer in the freezer.  Oh yeah.

I love this site how if you don't conform to everyone else's thoughts on a subject you are wrong.Who gives a rats butt if there's crossbows,in the same sentence why would anyone bitch about a guy a property over using one.Think back to when they legalized rifles in shotgun only areas and it's worked out just fine.As long as someone isn't doing anything wrong I couldn't give a care in the world.The whole hunting community has slobs in it and crossbows will be no different,I have seen tons dingleberries in the woods and they all weren't carrying rifles or shotguns,and before anyone wants to think this is an attack towards anyone it's not,I shoot with bowtoons all the time.He is entitled to his opinion as is everyone else.Grow up people!!!!!

I don't have a problem with the rule, but I do find it odd we refer to this as a family site. The "kids" here are almost all over 18... I haven't even seen Joe post in a while. There is very easy filter software that most sites use to block swearing. Instead of being reactive, why not just be proactive and enable the filters instead of banning/suspending people?

if they're too heavy, the state will cater to you and you can get can get a special handicapped permit to allow you to gun hunt during archery. Obamanation!

I'm not, I just work in the world of risk management. And to be only reactive and not proactive is just silly. Put the filters in place and your life is also easier. And don't be hypocritical when you have a .gif that gives the middle finger and whose code is a swear.

I guess the "my deer-my woods" perspective is something that has always puzzled me.  It seems to me in the end this debate finds a way to trickle down to this very way of thinking.  I don't know how to change those preconceived thoughts but with courtesy and good hunting ethics.  

I for one am excited to see these changes and look forward to shaking a few new hunters hands in the woods this fall.  One of those hands will not be the person running this state who already told me I was not welcome here because of my voting history, stance on guns and abortion...

Fighting your brothers battles for him? So, tell me again your opinion of how crossbows are going to ruin your bow season... because I'm sure it justifies all the pissing and moaning you're doing.

 

Show me one post where I said I was against Crossbows. Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. You fit right in with 80% of the guys here. I stated that thanking the Gov for allowing crossbows was ridiculous and also stated something to the effect of the Governor trying to buy gun owner votes by allowing crossbow use. I never said I'm against them. I have concerns but I'm taking the wait and see what happens approach.
