johnplav
Spicy lentils and mint salad - The mint is from the garden so that counts as first harvest of the year right?
dbHunterNY
My lunch break always gets screwed with when I work from home. Venison speidies char sliced thin and spread on hotdog buns with burger sauce, leafy lettuce, and shredded Colby jack cheese.Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk

Chef
That was my question but I am betting they were delivered from Baldor-restaurant supplier that is doing residential deliveries now as well. I have yet to find the edible fiddlehead while foraging. Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkYou need to search near creek beds I find them all near the creek at my camp.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chef
Gotta be careful as the wrong ones are dangerous to eat. About a month out on them around here I just got word. Spring is coming early this year I would be you will start seeing them in about 2 weeks.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I found several patches of them the other day and had time to harvest a few after work today. My son in law has tons of them in the southern tier but he said they are just popping up. I was surprised to see them this big already myself.

Arcade Hunter
Forgot to post last night... The only thing I would do differently is add more leeks. I saved the leaves too in a ziplock bag and tossed them in the freezer. I read somewhere that you can make pesto from them. Anyone ever try that?

turkeyfeathers
Not dinner but snack. Cut up some venison steaks yesterday and marinated in Cabelas brand hot n sweet mix cutting the cure to about 20% ( pure salt ), tossed in generous dashes of crushed red pepper flakes , brown sugar , dash or two of soy sauce , teriyaki and worchestshire . Woke up at 4 am and threw it on jerky racks. Into oven at 200 with door ajar. By 8:30 I had jerky goodness complete.
