Dom
Is it myself or are these people crazy with their pricing? just went and did a little shopping at Stopandshop holy crap 85 bucks for 2 bag's no wonder why I let the wife do the shopping. How do they get away with pricing they sure are robbing us of our hard earned money. All I can say is I am glad I have my hunting and fishing license's and for those that do not believe hunting and fishing cut's some grocery cost than you are nut's
Paula
Stopandshop sounds like a convenient store. Sounds like a crazy amount for 2 bags. We shop at 3 stores, depending on what we want or need.
PREDATE
I try to buy local whenever I can. So many farms are calling it quits. Without local farms/producers, we're bing hit with packaging & shipping costs.

No they are a regular grocery store we normally do our shopping in CT but have to much going on to go that way this weekend.picked up some lunchmeat cheese and some other every day need's but dang exspesive this is about what we would spend every 2 weeks on these items.I guess what really pissed me is knowing the money is not going to the farmers
Deerthug
I have one in town where I live and I've seen prices on everyday items more than double over the last 10 years. Not to mention the items are smaller in size or volume and the prices have gone up. I remember paying $1.50 for a gallon of milk 10 years ago now I'm paying close to $5. It's ridiculous when they try to sell you a so called sale item when in fact they increase the regular price before marking it down to put it on sale. Even shopping at big bulk stores like BJ's you can't get out of there without spending a minimum of $300 again for everyday things.
adkbuck
Dom, You need to have a garden to provide the veggies to go along with your fish and game to lower your grocery bill more. You can even grow melons in NY ( I grow mine on black plastic mulch): Edited September 20, 2014 by adkbuck

stubby68
Wow almost $5 for milk? I thought it was getting bad around here. I just got a gallon of milk tonite and it was $3.29 at tops. At save a lot It is $2.75. Prices are going up everyday though and the size of products is getting smaller. Meat is the worst I believe. Even chicken and hamburg and they use to be the cheap meat to use for dinner.Hunting season sure helps with the grocery bill no matter your income. The garden is a big help as well. Lots of freezing and canning around the house this time of year.

Doc
Years ago, I used to laugh at the Japanese for paying $5 a pound for beef. Lol....Actually it wasn't all that many years ago. Food.......a luxury only for the rich!

Just yesterday I went with my wife to Stop and Shop to get stuff for a BBQ today and we left spending nearly $100 and we did not get any meat. $14 lb for skirt steak no frigging way!! On our way to John's Farms this morning for the meat.

Dinsdale
I like going to the grocery store...... there is no one else to do it! Been to a few places where getting something to eat for many of the locals is a tall order. Grateful to have a zillion choices and its relatively affordable for my wages; although like most I'm careful in my spending.
bubba
I just paid 4 bucks for a gallon of milk at the local store. funny part is most people will pay 2 bucks for a 16 ounce soda, or bottle of water which is 16 bucks a gallon. Good point bubba. It KILLS me to buy water in a bottle but I'll do it 9/10 time over a pop (that's soda to you downstate geeks ).

crappyice
As much as I hate to admit it, I am a Costco fan-my twin 9 year old boys are killing me. 4 gallons of milk a week - 71/2 dozen eggs every two weeks...for those two purchases alone it is worth it for me
