Hope everyone had a great season. Either freezer fillers or some bone on the wall. I was lucky enough to get 2 of the 3 target bucks I was after this year. I was beat by all during the bow season. Late November I started to get the Letchworth buck back on cameras and was able to close the deal on him. It was into December before I started again getting pics of the buck I had hanging around on the North farm. Finally sealing the deal with him during late muzzleloader season. Was another great season and have been getting some pics of a couple of new bucks that have been hanging around a couple weeks now Hopefully those will be 2 that I will be chasing around next year.

We actually shot 10 this year. The most ever. 8 bucks 2 doe. I found this season to be a weird one. Had three shooters on camera and missed the biggest twice with bow. After Oct 8th I only saw 1 other shooter in the woods. Cameras went silent also until the end of season we picked up 1 big one. Did learn a lot about the property we leased across the road and food plots paid off for sure. Will be expanding plots next year. There sure are plenty of deer out there. Combined acreage of my property and neighbors  is about 1500 acres. Seriously only single digits on Doe harvest. Couple of the big pieces get hunted by 1 or 2 people usually just first week. Another piece most hunter are out of state and only stay for the first 4 days and they look for bone. I don't mind taking 10 deer between 4 families with all that going on.

After a three year  decline in game due to the severe Gypsy moth caterpillar infestation that defoliated all the mast trees things picked up in my neck of the woods. Saw a good increase in game especially Squirrels. Turkeys have bounced back and have a few Cottontail rabbits showing up. I hunt big woods and there is not a lot of Deer but enough to get some meat and fill the freezer.

The Fall weather was great for the most part and I was in the timber frequently seeing enough game to keep things interesting. Now that Deer season is over I will me messing around training my young Airedale pup and plan on doing some Varmint calling so long as the snow does not get too deep.

So all and all I am pretty happy on how fall hunting has gone so far.

I had the most satisfying season that I can remember. My daughter got her first deer during the early antlerless season. Then she got another doe during the special youth season. We have spent a lot of time in the woods together and for her to finally pull it all together and to be able to experience it with her was out of this world. My eyes get watery just thinking back on it.

I shot a decent 8 on the afternoon of opening day and I’m grateful. However, I put a lot of time in between the xbow and rifle seasons and did not see much. Actually, I have been seeing less deer each year and the kill rate amongst me and my peers seems to be declining as well. I don’t get it. You would think that we should be seeing more if we’re killing less year after year. a56636ebeecc149a7194fd1726b29d77.jpg

Great season! I was able to get  a big bodied 2 1/2 year old up in the NT ML opener. It was very warm with not much moving, but I hunted the oncoming cold front and caught him at about 30 yards, dropped him clean. I held off going out most of the rest of the season, having the last week of NT off...but wouldnt ya know...3 feet of snow in the week before! I got to the camp, but it really wasnt practical to get out...I would have had to drag anything back through 3 foot of light snow! Well, that is hunting, glad I put venison away early.
