Now you know about the elderly gentleman I got the deer for...He has lost everything because he showed others kindness and was bled dry...

Today I hear of a 90+ yr old man that saw a young fellow down and out and offered him help and a meal...to be beaten and put in the Dansville hospital....

If there is even a tiny bit of justice in this universe that no good %$#@#! will have some horrific nasty accident that he will survive. Only so have to live a very long and extremely painful life in a public nursing home.... :threaten:

I've lost faith in humanity a long time ago....I assume everyone is the enemy until they prove otherwise........sad but true.

Such a shame!  I use to trust my fellow man but have learned to be apprehensive.  I blame drugs for many of the issues society faces today along with a growing wealth gap, internet and TV.  Many of these things distort reality hence the reason I love the woods so much!

There isn't a "wealth gap" there is an "effort gap"

Guess I am blessed .. 99% of the people i have met are good people. One of my former businesses was selling firewood(1000+ cord a year) and I would trust everyone, only got screwed out of money twice . Once, I new better and the other was totally unexpected.

Off the mark a little not nearly as horrific but I was hunting a piece of private land I have permission with a few other older guys and on my way down the dead end road on foot I came across 4 doe carcasses right on edge of road that's in a nice quiet little neighborhood. Wth is wrong with this "sportsman" who can't even dispose of this in a more people friendly matter. People around here all understand hunting and have very very few who really say bad things about it but come on the lady's and kids walking and biking around the neighborhood don't need to see this on the edge of their roads...it's a messed up world now that the so called "sportsman" couldn't even make it 100 yards into woods to dump their leftovers....i moved then as we don't need this to project on the majority of us who really cherish the land and outdoors...and grow I'm with you on this scum that needs more than justice to serve him..hope for a good recovery

Kudos for doing the right thing...ya know that Town has always had it's problems what town doesn't....but drugs have taken over....the person telling this is a neighbor...they were in their yard when young ppl started screaming fowl things at the husband...they just went on there way...next day they go out and a jar had been set next to the rear tire ...they hit it and glass exploded every where...now they fear for their safety...really gang wannabees out here in the country...No one should have to fear living in their neighbor hood...

I Googled this to see if it was in the local news...my brain is about to split open...with all of the elderly beatings and killings over what?... things like $3.00???

Will some one tell me where the "freindly" protests are over this...this isn't color based it transends race it's age based..when did growing old make you not worth the effort?

Heroin is huge issue is Putnam and westchester county the last 3-4 years. Kids are dying left and right. Kids think it's cool to go to Florida for rehab. It's sad. Too many 25-35 year olds who don't work and think that it's ok to still sit around and do drugs everyday.

This is the reason i make and live by my own rules. Some say its above the law. I say..Whatever!  This world is so screwed up that i dont believe anyone can make a better decision on my and my families life then me. I will do whatever it takes for the safety and well being of my property,my family and myself. Laws or no laws.

In this county you could run the board with the list of drugs and like someone said..If weed is the only problem. Thank your lucky stars!

I'm glad I live where I feel safe and - for the most part - can trust people. I choose to reject fear and suspicion of strangers, however, I realize that not everyone has that luxury. I don't watch TV but from what I have seen TV news is a machine for creating fear.

Do you lock your doors when you leave the house? Are any of your firearms designated as a "go to" home defense weapon.

I mentioned before that when I was a kid, we didn't even have locks on the doors. I live within 1/4 mile of where I was back then. I have lots of locks, deadbolts, etc., and a 12 gauge pump shotgun lives right above the bed. Yes, we live in the sticks, and we have decent neighbors and all that. But burglaries and home invasions are not completely unheard of out here anymore. It's not a case of living in fear, as much as it is simply a realization that times have changed, and a certain level of reality does have to be applied no matter where you live. Where I live the only law enforcement protection available is a good half hour minimum away (at least!). I am the first and last line of defense when it comes to home security. It's a whole different world today, and it's not all just a made up scenario of the media.

Fear and especially suspicion are not necessarily bad things. They are built into us for a reason.

We don't disagree. Caution and fear are different. I never locked my door until I was burglarized. Increasing age and infirmity have made me even more careful. I have a 12 ga pump gun in the safe. The tube is filled with #4 magnums. I won't leave it unlocked. Kids are here sometimes. If the home is invaded, I need a couple of minutes to unlock the safe as they batter the door down.

The governor signed the S.A.F.E. act  into law, because they said guns were to blame. Well, what the hell are they going to do about the drug abuse?  Nobody gives a rats ass about that!  ( Excuse my french)

looks like they gotta make drugs illegal too.......

Hate to hear these stories of older people being abused some people just have no respect for anyone nor themselves for that matter.  Funny last weekend I'm going to Target with my 21 yr old daughter and we are parking the truck when an elderly couple were pushing their cart so we had to wait for them to move.  Well my daughter says and I know she was joking and she is a good kid" oh 100 points for old people," well I wasn't in a joking mood I guess so I snapped at her and told her to have some respect for them "this is the generation who fought Hitler" ect ect....So we parked and I made her help them put their bags in the trunk lol..young whippersnapper!
