Alright Maytom , Lawdwaz , Gman ,Skillet and Wooly. I know I missed a few , sorry. Let's see pics and how it all unfolded ????

I hunted turkey for 6 or 7 years in a row and shot at one in all those years and missed. Not sure what I was doing wrong but I have much respect for all the successful hunters out there. I hate getting up early so I don't even buy my stamps any more. Good luck to everyone.

Terrible morning for us.

Didn't seem to be raining too hard on our hike in, but by the time we arrived at the blind 45 minutes away, we were soaked!

Pretty cold and miserable by 8am but we hung in there till 10am.

No turkey or turkey sounds this morning... no regrets bailing early either.

There will be better days I'm sure.

Nothing for me this morning, but some good action. Passed on a Jake that came tooling through with a hen. ( I didn't even call him in…they just kind of showed up) Had one Tom answer and eventually show himself, but too far and with two hens. Roosted some walking in. I was soaked by 830 and headed out. Looking forward to tomorrow but can't decide where and how to set up yet. Good luck to all.

Well,  that was easily the wettest I've ever been turkey hunting.  It's never rained like that (that I remember anyway) in 35 years of opening days.  Put the rain pants on right off the bat.....eased down into the woods and waited.  1st gobble was around 5:45.   Gobbled real good, flew down and beat feet................no love for me.

Hit another spot and had nothing exciting.

Two buddies killed birds in the area and one of the two guys killed a bird yesterday in Pennsylvania also, all three birds were adults.

I walked a ton and hunted until 11:30 before pulling the pin.  Everything is drenched, had to empty my vest, wash stinky & muddy clothes and tear down the SBE for a fluff and buff.

Next time I'll get 'em!!

...oh, and remember. Don't grab them by the legs until they are stone dead. That's my blood, not his. Rookie mistake.ember. Don't grab them by the legs until they are stone dead. That's my blood, not his. Rookie mistake.

Congrats and you're 100% right. I have made that rookie mistake a couple times well out of my rookie season. One time the tom tore a section of my sleeve right near my wrist. The last time was about4 years ago. It was a real nice tom, flapping around after I shot it. The flapping seemed to calm down a bit so I grabbed his legs. Well he wasn't quite done. He ended up getting his spur stuck /tangled in my glove and it was on……Oh it was a scene. Fortunately no blood….none of mine anyway, but I was flopping as much as the tom.

When are Turkey roosting up roughly? Wanna go out and try some hoots later.

Last half hour or so of light ... I like to be there for the last hour and listen , then around dusk if they haven't gobbled upon flying up then give some locators ....

I forgot how much I enjoy turkey hunting. Today was like it was 15 years ago with birds gobbling everywhere. I can't wait to get out of work in the morning get my wet Cammo on and chase some more around tomorrow. Now that I'm on the board it will be with the bow from now on.

Was seriously thinking of heading out, but after an hour drive and another 1/2 hr. walk back into the woods, not enough time to fuss about it. Like to be in the woods at 5:15am, and waiting for that magical time 5:30-6am to hear them sound off. Look's like the weather will be better on Tues. and wed.

Got out of work at 6:30 headed out and was surrounded by jakes by 7:15 sat tight until they moved on around 9. Went a half mile down the road and got on a big bird had him at 25yds 3 different times and was able to get the bow drawn on him twice but never got a shot. He was gobbling his head off. For someone that runs and guns like me this weather couldn't be any better!

Just ready to head in 9H. 36 degrees.Barely a wind , can't hear windmills . Major fog that I hope dissipates early. Saw 2 fox and a few deer on way in. Miss my hunting buddy( daughter ). Asked her permission if I could go without her today. We'll be back Saturday though. Good luck to all going out today.
