Nothing this morning in the spot where I heard four gobblers last Friday..

GLAD it's over !! Not I can get all that stuff out of my truck and get it put away, to make room for my FISHING stuff !!

Of course, then there is that LONG honeydo list that The Mermaid has been harassing me about...

That woman's INDIAN name is "Five Horses".....Nag, nag, nag, nag NAG !

Had 3 hens and a jake outside the house window this morning 7:00 am about 15 feet. They hung around for 10 minutes or so. No reason to shoot because I only eat the ,Breast , not going to kill one just for that. Let them make more young ones.

Well I gave it all I had, not a gobbler from the roost again today, busted 1 off the roost @ 5:45, sat it out till 9 hoping there would be 1 nearby. Took a walk,at 10 I set up again and called aggressively, had 2 gobblers sneak in quite, season ended 5 minutes later!!!

Bill ,

It's 82 degrees out and way too warm for us all to wearing hip boots for the $hit you're shoveling. Do you have a friend or neighbor who has a smartphone who you could borrow to post pics ?! We'd like to see pics of a possible NYS record bird. Just askin. Just think if you wouldn't have "stung " that other bird you wouldn't have had this chance. Crazy how things work ain't it.

no bird for me this year, but still a great season. Passed on Jakes, had nice Toms that I just couldn't close the gap with and I saw birds every day I hunted. (at least 15 days). Found one tiny shed and saw lots of deer and deer sign. Good season in my book.

Thanks, Turkeyfeathers! Here's the stats: 18.5 lbs. 9 5/8" beard, and 7/8",15/16" spurs.

Ants, funny you should mention shed antlers, I found a half 8pt yesterday and today I found a basket rack  half 8 pt. Today I saw 2 bucks running together both had 2-3" spikes, and later on my 9-10 am walk I saw a real nice buck, he was up to his ears!

LAST DAY GOBBLER!---- My friend Jeannine could not make it today to this public land area in Orange County. And, this is my very 1st day in this area all Spring as I wanted Jeannine to get a tom here.

Well members, I heard AT LEAST 8 gobblers in this area! No one else was parked here and 3 of the toms were at a field edge and gobbling good! The only way to the field edge was a overgrown woods road and I would be in full view from their side! I had to get on my hands and knees to get to the field edge.20 yards took 5 minutes. Soon-3 were down together and on the other side. I shook my Pittman-fly down flapper. 3 gobblers respond! Next, I took my --Red Wolfe gobble caller and made a jake gobble. Hard gobbling from those 3 as well as 4 others some distance away. Next, I scratched out soft clucks and purrs on my ancient--HS Strut Triple Glass. They moved away some and I had to reposition as now I thought, I was dealing with jakes. Tried to circle them--they gobbled and retreated. I circled back to my orginal position. Took 5 minutes or more. Heel to toe and don't snap a twig! Back at the field edge- but hidden some by 6 foot stalks. Here comes a hen followed by a Gobbler with a full fan!! Gobblers after all! They are already 20 yards out. I want the Boss of the 3. This time, I have my trusty 12 gauge and Winchester-- longbeard ammo---2 1/4 of 4s. I fire and my shot is true. The field is cleared at 5.50am.

I look down and can't belive it---- in 27 years- this is my best gobbler spur-wise! A solid 1 3/4 inches!!! I measured them perfectly 4 times. He weighed 18 pounds and was just starting to eat again and the beard was 10 1/4. Reported him already to the DEC. TG-I passed up that jake 2 weeks ago. He must have been 5 years old. His wattles were not as red and faded. Someone shot this guy before at some point. Not a good hit---found just a few--lead4s in his thigh. It was healing up. Season over.

Pics or didn't happen ....

Congratulations to Bill, 2012 taco, and everyone else who killed a bird in the bottom of the 9th inning, quite a few guys & girls got one yesterday. I hunted this weekend at my camp in Allegany county, didn't hear a peep, I think they flew south, LOL. Now it's on to summer activities, fishing, home repair, cooking out, and planning for fall turkey trips. Counting down the days.... :D

Yep...hahahaha day after season and he says, "I haven't heard a turkey in weeks...there he is gobblin in the wood line just off our bathroom window. They sure are smart". I rolled my eyes and got a cup of coffee...of course he's laughing...he doesn't hunt them and get up at 3a.m.  to go sit in a cold dark woods in May....:beee:;)

Dont quote me, but I dont think you need to be a member to get it measured. I know a Niagara chapter member that does measurments if you want I could ask him if you need to be a member. He would be way too far from you, but might have a contact that could help you.
