Good morning so far. Sitting at 6. Stood from 630 to now. Had about 8 turkey's roosted around me literally 360 around me. Had a shot at one. Then listened to them locating each other... I joined in late but Noone took the bait...... Cold cold. Good wind. Sitting for a bit to warm up

We finally saw deer. Had a doe and button come running in. Not the best scenario. She was within 20' of us but straight looking at us ur behind a tree. The little skipper was running around like a goof. She runs past, again we are in a blind with different Windows so repositioning each time she zips by so close is a stealth adventure. The little buck hits the mock and is jumping around on his hind legs getting into the licking branch. She is behind a tree 90 degrees the other side of us. Then she runs back and stops 20' out staring right at us with a stare off for had to be 5 minutes. She must have caught a scent finally and got hinky and spun trotted directly away. I bleated and she eased up and stopped but she was behind some brush 60 yards out then off she went. He could have shot the button but I had him focused on the doe. Least we had some excitement.

Best am hunt of the year. Passed a 14 wide basket 8pt. He has a small 3pt hanging with him. The a shooter 9pt came out at 75 yards and wend the wrong way for me and right way for him. I'll take it good start to the season. 7 different bucks now but not a single doe sighting. 9k

I took the short walk this morning and wasn't that night sky beautiful!...didn't spook anything in so I was hopeful.  Man glad I didn't favor the wind and go behind the house...there were at least 5 yotes locating each other behind the house and then they all let loose with some long eerie howls and yipps...I'll assume one of the neighbors had a gut pile some where. About 7am I had two small fawns eating apples across from me and down wind...wind...... Really it said N..get to road and I feel it blowing on me from the south east...get up in the stand and it goes WNW deer come out and it picks up to north blowing my scent to them...though no major spooking. then a 10 or so inch spike appeared...a bit later a young doe...that I stood for in case she started over to me like the fawns and buck..No such luck ..it just kept getting colder so at 8:30 I called it a morning...42 when I left and it's 39 now. I will be yanking plants ...weather said 35 tonight but we are always several  to 5 degrees colder...which is more of a freeze. We already had cold damage to the tomatoes and peppers..tops blk. and wilted... Oh heard some clicking over the ridge and some turkey too ..GREAT little sit...patterns have changed big time from last year.

Just moved to another ridge and kicked up a young doe.....she must have been looking for momma cause I played games with her out of sight bleating her little head off for around 5 min.

Also got a text from my cell cam on the other property we hunt...wouldn't ya know it a nice size doe strolled past my stand a few minutes ago!

Yeah , why worry about some kid's safety . ..... The reason is SAFETY . Not all kids / youths are the same .

So why have a law that covers all kids....Parents should be able to decide if their youth hunter is ready for a stand or not.

Decided against a morning hunt; the wind is whipping the trees, and I'd probably get motion sick. I practiced with the new climber, and I'm going to change up a stand location.

This afternoon, my buddy heads up for an afternoon ground sit. Likely his first and last bow hunt of the year. Hope I pick a good spot. This wind is problematic for my lil' slice o'Heaven.

Good luck out there, especially to all the young'uns!

I'm all thumbs when using Tapatalk

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
