I can't brag because I lowered what I normally look for..that said 5pt down gutted and waiting for me to return with the Gator...5yrds double lung and he went 100 yrds, after a mule kick ,short run then walked away tail down and wagging like mad.......small 5 but the size of a nice doe..which I was hoping were the ones that ran and stopped 10 yrds in  front of me . It was the triplets ,yet again ,but then I heard his steady crunch....crunch...crunch coming in directly behind me...I knew it to be a buck but not the size. I said don't even look it's going to be bigger than those fawns..went in a bit back for he was in a stride, and I had to be quick not to spook the fawns shouldering the bow...... but it came out behind his elbow. Well the work begins ...he was just loaded with engorged ticks...

I'm back ..like I said a little guy but it's meat in the freezer and doe just don't want to show...he actually has 6 small points but I don't think that one is a legal point? I don't know how that works..I know 3 in for a spike... Well I got to get him hung skinned and quartered before the rain....pulled cards...still some OK bucks around and some doe just at midnight to 3am

Spent last night helping my nephew track his first buck. At 3:45 he had 2 doe with 4 bucks chasing surround his stand. He shot the largest, a small racked 8 point at about 4 yards.

On way in we moved a doe and a buck. He hit very high and the track was difficult. Took 3 hours and we lost blood a few times but we persevered and a few times I went ahead because it was high grass and think brush and we needed leaves. Finally, his lungs filled and we had good blood.  The buck weighed 135.  Cant get a pick off phone or I'd post it.

Bottom line- they're still chasing in southern Oswego County

Congrats grow! Can ya toss some of that good luck over here? I'm getting worn out. I think I've hunted all but 5 days this season. I can't say I haven't tried. But it's looking like I'll be eating tag soup with my bow tag. This will be 2 years in a row. Not cool.

O well. Gun season might shake some bucks loose around me and let me get a shot off.

Had 3 does come by at 20 yards early. I could hardly see them. They are currently standing next to my chicken coop stealing corn and wheat from my chickens. Wife and kids are watching them out the window. Had a button buck come stand in front of me in the field for 30 mins then he left. Now it's just me, the wind, 500 squirrels and 600000 blue jays

6:30 - 9:00 AM sit in 3M section of Ulster County...flocks and flocks and flocks and flocks of crows flew overhead from 7-8 AM.  A single squirrel and that's it.

Thought it might be decent this morning since we had some cloud cover move in around midnight, noticed it as I was rocking my teething daughter back to sleep.  Not having mast this year has them moving differently this year and apparently I'm two steps behind.

Where do you sell the hide at? And how much does one go for anyways?

Walked in this morning right on the big bodied 4 point I have seen 5 or 6 times this year. Tried to bleat him in but as soon as he got down wind game over. He is a big deer probably 160-180lbs but now he is a half rack. Lost it in the last week or so. He definitely needs to be taken out of the gene pool. Saw another tall 6 with a doe 100+ yards away all before I got to the stand. Nothing from the stand...might try the climber this afternoon.

Sat till 10 and had to leave for family stuff.... Had a spike within 100 yards. Didn't want any th ing to do with Rattle, grunt, or bleat.......

Couldn't have shot him anyway per agreement with landowner that I'm there for does.

But he was eating those harvested beans.

Check with your local Elks club too. I know the one near me takes them in as donations (they do not pay you for them) and then they sell all of them and use the money to buy the Veterans Christmas presents who belong to the Elks club. Awesome idea all the way around.

      Hi Everyone,
It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      best of holiday wishes!

Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike? If anyone from that county or knows about deposit and broome county would get back to me i would appreciate it. Hope everyone hunting today catch a big one thanks.

The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      Hi Everyone,
My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
