Well the truck is packed with everything but the guns I have to work until 5 tomorrow then I'm heading up. Looking like snow sat and sun and I am stoked! Can't wait to get on a track in the snow. Can't wait to sit beside the wood stove with a book and a cold beer! I wait all year for the next month and a half and I can't wait!

My first northern rifle opener this weekend. I can't believe weather is changing from 70s to 40s in a matter of hours. If this is not a sign of great things to come, I don't know what is. Good luck to all, and be safe.

Also, look every year for the sense of camp, wood smoke, warm fire, boiled coffee at 5:00 am and the experience with family and friends.

There is something magical that happens when you pull your wool clothes out for the first time of the year and know they are going to get wet and covered in snow and hopefully blood.

Nothing bagged but a great weekend !

We had all the weather you ever wanted from downpours to snow to high winds. It was a weather roller coaster for sure but there are plenty of sign in the woods and I am headed back North.

It was a great few days for me found some sign saw let a spike go that I tracked on bare ground and could have shot in his bed. I have a lot of wet clothes and gear but it was a great time and I can't wait until next Monday to get back at it.

Wow, I just found few minutes to post my comments. That opening weekend was something. I didn't see a thing. It is true, northern zone hunting is so much tougher than southern zone. I got back to my southern zone spots and tagged out by the end of thanksgiving weekend. Thank God I don't have to feed my family by hunting northern adk. We would be dead by now from starvation. Anyway for those of you hunting north, my hats off to you.
