grampy
Thank you. To each and every one of you! It means alot to me. Surgery went really well! Had to do a little more than anticipated but got everything fixed and cleaned up in my right shoulder. Pain not too bad right now. Looking forward to shooting my bow, asap! Haven't been able to for awhile now. A little time and some PT and I'll be good as new! Will have the same surgery on the left shoulder after hunting season. I really appreciate all the kind words. And typing with my left hand is the real pain!!!

Doc
Now you get a chance to sharpen up the skills on your left hand.....lol. What in your shoulder did they repair? How long did they estimate before you could start using it in a "heavy-duty" way (like shooting the bow)? Was the malfunction caused by shooting the bow, or do you think it was something else? Let's get those left handed typing skills up to speed with a whole lot of questions .... lol. Anyway, I hope all the healing process and PT goes well and you are back ship-shape in a hurry. GreeneHunter
Although Physical Therapy can sometimes hurt its best to plow through as much as you can , the work you do now will make the recovery that much better ! Good Luck !

Multiple partial rotator cuff tares. Scaring with debris in the joint. Started all this in my teens after an auto accident dislocated both shoulders. Since then I've lost count on how many dislocations each shoulder has had. Doc says a minimum of 12 weeks before shooting bow. I'm hoping for 8, but will not push it if I don't feel ready. My bow is set at 53 pounds. Hope to shoot the rifle off the lead sled asap. Will go back to work after next week. Just for supervision duties. No students. Farm chores, and house chores, I got plenty of help. Will start PT next week. Then, after deer season, start all over again with the left shoulder!
grampy
Update. Next week will be a month since surgery. PT again today. Still not much strength in my arm but can hold a coffee cup now! Even tossed a practice lure off the deck a couple days ago, though not very far....lol. Not much pain unless I try to use it or sleep on that side. I did pick up my bow and clip on the release, but that's as far as I've gotten with that. Still a ways off from shooting a rifle too. I'm a little discouraged, as I thought I would be a little farther along at this point. But the Doc and therapist say I'm doing great! And I've come a long way in just about a month. I'm just not a very patient, patient!!! But I'll continue to work hard and follow instructions, with the goal of hunting with my bow on October 1st.

growalot
Grampy, Don't rush it...my therapists tell me those are one of the longest recovery times. Easy for set backs...That may have been to scare me into being careful and doing my exercises to delay having to go under the knife, as it were. I do understand the possible frustration though..after my accident and leg surgery the day before Easter one year..I was bed ridden for months , had another surgery and still in a walking cast when bow season arrived...took 2 full years before I didn't feel the "pressure" from the steel rod in my leg or feel the nut in my ankle. Now it's just a big scar and a faint memory, hang in and be well.

grampy
Thanks again everyone, and please excuse my last pity party post. I am normally a very positive, head down, move forward kinda guy. I need to focus more on how far I've come, not how far I have to go! That's what I'll do from here on! Stay positive and keep moving forward!!! By October, I want to challenge my buddy moog in arm rasslin! By then with all this PT, I'll have a Popeye arm!.........smile........
