Since having right rotator shoulder surgery on May 4th. But haven't shot at all since early January. The last week or so, I've been able to pull full draw in the basement. But much too shaky to actually shoot. Still shaking a bit but was able to pull off a few shots at 20 yards. I have worked so hard to get here. And along with some other issues I'm dealing with, I never lost sight of my goal to bowhunt with my grandson this fall. I will tighten up my groups, and continue improving, until the season starts. One person I have to thank, who has encouraged me, all through this, and told me to go hard with PT is moog5050. A true friend and gentlemen. So these shots are for you buddy!

He's going to get his first bow deer at 13! Not sure who will be happier, him or I.20170730_193136.jpgLast shots of the day,20170730_192344.jpg from an old guy with his old bow.

Those groups are tighter  than some of Pygmy's ex-girlfriends!

As a general rule, if you can't fit you whole fist in it you're doing alright....... talking 'bout your groups here, lol

Pretty damn good shootin' for an old guy with a bum shoulder!

Good shooting! From someone that's been through multiple shoulder surgeries I feel your pain Grampy. You're already shooting better than I was a couple weeks ago. Keep up the hard work, trust me that first deer after all the worrying and wondering if you'll ever be able to do it agin is a sweet feeling for sure!

Great JOB!  Awesome that you are shooting again.  All that PT is paying off.  Let that shoulder rest up some before shooting again.  Best part is that you know you are already where you need to be to kill deer.  I really really look forward to seeing that photo of you and Zac standing with your first deer of the season (or for Zac, first deer period!).  And please don't thank me, you are the one doing all the hard work!  I am merely a cheerleader (and an ugly one at that)!

Thanks everyone!  I had to take a few minutes between shots, and was a bit sore after shooting. Was only going to shoot 1 to 3 arrows. Ended up shooting 9! What has helped is shooting that same bow and set up for so long, since 2000. It really is just an extension of my arm now, as far as anchor and such. If I can get it back, and hold it, the rest just comes automatic. Will start out shooting a few every third day, for now, and build off that. There really was a time, pre and post surgery that I though my bow hunting days were done. And perhaps they would be, if not for my grandson. In between his sports practices, games, school, and activities at least two times a week, I'd sit with him while he shot his bow. And each time he would ask, "how long before you can shoot with me grampy"? That kept me working harder, along with the prodding from PT people, family and friends. The next deer I shoot will be my best ever, no matter what it is! And Zac's first deer will be the ultimate achievement for us both! I'm truly so very happy, and grateful, to still be able to call myself a bow hunter!!!
