Water Rat
Just saw he died of liver cancer last week. He was known for his knife making skills and working with Eustace Conway in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Karpteach
It's a shame. He was a good character and seemed like a gentle soul!

ATbuckhunter
Eustace always annoyed me, but I really enjoyed watching Preston. From what ive read he was a stand up guy and a highly respected person in the education system. What a shame! Doc
What is it that is so irritating about Eustace? I don't have a very high opinion of him either, but I can't really figure out any specific reasons ..... lol. But poor old Preston was the one offsetting personality in their segment of the program that made it possible to put up with Eustace. I do get a kick out of the creativity of both of them. That wood-burning powered truck was just brilliant. I've never seen anything like it. I didn't even know it was possible.

For me mainly it's all about him "trying to make money to save his property" though there has been rumors all of that is fabricated just for the show. All his endeavors, he can't ever seem to do by himself. Preston always has to help him. Bob Oar does more by himself and he's older than dirt with bad knees from his rodeo days. You can understand when he gets some help. I view the others as true outdoors men where as Eustice is more of a home steader.
LET EM GROW
I really enjoyed Preston as well, thats too bad. Eustace.. He annoyed me at times as well. I think mainly because some of his acts were quite thoughtless and he payed the price for those choices. But again it is TV and it has to be staged to look good, I think they just had to stage way too much of Eustace's Property to make it look good, it really didnt compare in reality.. I mean i liked alot of what he did, but the way he did it was... idk awkward or something.. Still a good show. I just wish Ax Men would come back to air also.. steve863
I've only watched a season or two of the "Mountain Men" series that they had streaming on Netflix, but Eustace definitely looks like the biggest fraud on the show. For one thing he lives in South Carolina which isn't exactly an area in the middle of nowhere like Alaska or Montana can be. I bet the nearest McDonalds or Pizza Hut is no further than a few miles away for him. The same can't be said about the guys in Alaska. I did watch that episode where Eustace had to appear in court and then rode his horse into town in between all the car traffic. Give me a break!! If that wasn't staged, I don't know what else might have been! For someone who is supposed to be a great "Mountain man", he sure screws things up a lot.
