goosifer
for hunting. If you get dressed next to your vehicle for other reasons, this is not the thread for you. I get dressed to pants, shirt and shoes at home, then put on my jacket, bibs and boots next to my truck where I hunt. I have never mastered the art of not touching the ground when changing from shoes to boots while putting on my bibs. I usually stand on a storage tote lid. But I found something better. Doller tree sells a 2'x2' solid rubber-backed carpet square. The carpet portion is barely there, but the rubber backing is thick. I put that on the ground, slipped off shoes and stepped on that, put on bibs and then stepped into boots. Worked great. For a buck, it's worth picking one up and keeping it in your vehicle. Anyway, that my value hunting tip of the day. 13

Five Seasons
My dad uses his truck mat. My process is the same as yours, but I wear slip on shoes which allows me to put the outer layers on one leg at a time stillSent from my iPad using Tapatalk

mlammerhirt
As do I....sometimes I end up doing the one leg hop as to not touch down on the wet or frost covered grass. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
Nomad
I wear those Kroc plastic things kick one off Slip foot into Muck boot, rinse and repete . My outer layers are in contractor bag, which I stand on sometimes , after dumping clothes into hatchback .

fasteddie
When I have my trailer with me I use a discarded Real Estate panel to stand on and sit on the hitch to put on my hunting boots .
Five Seasons
I just get dressed at home, much easier. If you travel you really shouldn’t wear your outer layer in the truck. If you hunt behind the house you have a nice privilege that not all of us have.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Karpteach
This is a great idea. It will save me some wet socks. Nomad, I too wear Crocs them Muck boots. I usually have a black bag to stand on but, sometimes the wind takes it then you have wet toes all day.
The_Real_TCIII
I use this heavy vinyl/canvas thing that used to protect my seats from car seats lol, works well. Crocs too
Core
Nice idea. This is one of those times having a minvan is really nice. Third row I can use as a change room.

It’s the transferring of odors from your ride to your clothes. 5 min or 50.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JALA RUT
I keep my old spare truck mats on top of my hunting box lid and use those if I have to change by the truck

Well not always, but most of the time. I've noticed any difference in it. Like people worry about their scent walking in, why? Within 20 minutes of walking in your scent is no longer left where you walked.

I get dressed at home, drive to the nearest place for coffee & a sandwich which I eat while driving 20 miles on the way to my stand. I don't use any cover scents other than a little buck lure hung on a branch once in awhile. I have been able to shoot deer (if so desired) every year for the last 50+ years. Just saying I don't do all the scent things & see deer. I had a friend that smoked & drank coffee in his stand, always smelled like smoke & shot deer all the time. My son in law & his buddy do all the scent things, wash their clothes in scent free soap, carry it all to the cabin it a scented plastic tote, don't get dressed until the last min. & don't always see deer. Then they seem more interested in getting deer on cams. instead of shooting one, they make me laugh.

I don't believe scent control is any guarantee but it sure is heck helps. I follow strict clothes washing, spraying and body washing. I basically hang all my outer layers outside as well. you can hunt however you'd like of course.

I just like to put the greatest odds in my favor.
Nomad
My clothes and boots are way to muddy and wet to wear them home, and I get to warm wearing them to my spot .
