Lent

While I hate to get religious or political or AR or crossbow, are there any Lenten practices or sacrifices you are willing to share?

 

I hit daily Mass during Lent with my Mom and lay off the meat on Fridays.

No meat on Friday's.  Once I tried to give up beer for Lent, but St. Paddy would have none of that!

Definitely no meat on Ash Wednesday and on Fridays.  I tried to give up alcohol last year, but caved within the first few days.   Daily mass is a big commitment, good for you for doing that.

i got back into being and practicing a catholic. a few years ago i was on a matt talbot retreat[ google him or pm me and you will understand where im coming from] and i went to confession  and im sitting in front of the priest which was kinda strange to me and i said ,well attempted to say the act of contrition and i said man i forgot i havent been to confession since 1973 and after he got off the floor .I went into it and and to my suprize he was very understanding  and i felt very at ease and been going to church when i can .Being italian my mom would come up with interesting ways to go without meat escarole and beans ,pasta and chickpeas and pasta fazool  made with out meat.

It is hardly a sacrifice to abstain from meat one day a week, so many great menu choices. This past Friday we had Smoked Salmon with Tomato Cream Sauce, delicious.
