Scent Free Alternatives

Hey All,

 

I was reading somewhere that instead of buying the deer branded washing detergent for scent free washes you can buy something else in the grocery store for a fraction of the price. I believe it was an arm and hammer product, does anyone know what this is? Same went for a deodorant stick.

How about Baking soda to wash out clothes?

All I ever do is wash with borax (the 20 mule team) ans baking soda. Mix the two and wash your clothes works great and is super cheap.

I've been using All free and clear the last 2 years.

Same here with All Free & Clear.  That is all I use in my washing machine year round and we use nothing in the dryer. No drier sheets.   HS shampoo, that green stuff and baking soda to brush teeth.  Pretty low cost for a base to start at.

I use Dr. Bronners pure unscented castille soap. We buy it buy the gallon for washing my son's clothes.

+1 on Dr Bronners.....not cheap but easy to rinse and makes for the best camping soap too.

I don't wash my clothes or myself..Makes for a rough 2 1/2 months.

I do the samething. I use Arm and Hammer scent free and do not use Dryer to dry them.

Do you have the ratio for this? I picked up a box of Borax from home depot this weekend and was going to wash them this week.

Does this contain UV brighteners tho? I'm assuming the perfume free/dye free means no UV brighteners right? I treat my clothes with UV killer anyway on top of using the expensive store crap....

Not really if I was to measure each out it would  probably be 1/2 cup borax  1/4 cup baking soda. I adjust the amount acording to that size of the wash though.

any of the free and clear stuff is fine. also make sure there aren't any uv brighteners.

If I recall correctly from an AT thread on this subject, All and Cheer free have no UV brighteners
