No, it isn't May 1 yet. Don't go changing the subject, Deerthug. Some of us are more interested to see how Growalot will hand WNY his butt on this thread before we start thinking about any stupid turkeys. LOL

I think we all put in our 2 cents (including myself) about what this guy did.

Listen WNYBH...I wasn't being uppity and I have several generations of family members that were and are teachers...and a daughter in higher Ed...and I worked in the school system...now down south he more than likely wouldn't have a problem...but here in NY....they could actually get him on child abuse with that video...Did you know that if parents are raising their voices ...fighting between them selves in their own home can be hauled in for child abuse if the kid over hears the argument and says something at school...seen it happen...and by the way

your word

Just another example of how F'd up this state is

Look ..... I have no idea what the legal ins and outs are on this particular method of punishment. I don't even care. One thing I will say for certain is that the kid got the message .....no doubt in my mind. She is now one of the very few kids that has actually been punished for engaging in disrespect of elders. It sure doesn't happen very often these days as more and more the kids blatently run the household. And it's about time these techno-brats learned that there is at least some behaviors in life that actually have consequences. I say BRAVO! There is one child who is not being coddled and trained by a whiney do-nothing parent to be a worthless loser in life that expects the world owes them a living. Now she can buy her own laptop and whatever other electronic toys she wants. Maybe she will actually have to go out and get a job and learn how all the stuff that she consumes is actually paid for. Won't that be a shame?

Was his method a bit off-the-wall? Probably .... but I applaud his originality, creativity and most of all, the absolute effectiveness at getting the point across. Whatever politically incorrectness that we may want to assign to this act, at least we are seeing one rare parent that actually takes some time and effort to try to correct his kid. That is one of the very rare times that we will ever see that. Most have already given up and thrown in the towel.

Very true indeed. Well said Doc.

That has to be the hillbilliest I.T. guy I've ever seen. The girl got what she deserved. The magnitude of what she did is unparalleled. Legally he shot his own computer. What's the big deal? Because a gun was involved? The only mistake he made was putting his business out in the street (on the net) like that. He shouldn't feel the need to prove anything to her bratty friends. I think some of you are going to have grandsons with dog collars, LOL!

Yikes! You want effectiveness just do a good job at parenting! Now that would be creative. This guy took this way too far and to post it on YouTube was so dumb. He should be investigated, SS would not be doing their job if he wasn't interviewed. Never know what lurks behind anger like that.

...when one of my teens wanted to raise hell with our lives...I called social services and demanded a mediation section between all of us....

Grow, you did what? Are you serious, a mediator for your kids? You are taking this to "hole nather level" bro !

He finally gave into his demands for a higher allowance and a later curfew. But he had to submit grades and homework for review on a weekly basis.

I have seen some of that kind of parenting that you are talking about. You know..... the parents that get kicked in the shins or slapped in the face and the parent says, "Oh, please don't do that" and then ignores the kid while he continues making a spectacle of himself. Yeah go to any Walmart or grocery store and you'll see that kind of parenting. I agree, the guy should be investigated and then used as an example of how to properly get your kid's attention. As you might have guessed, I have had it with these so-called parents who have completely lost their spine when it comes to child rearing. I see examples of this nonsense all the time, and frankly it's sickening and pitiful. Personally, I would have taken an axe to the laptop just for a little extra emphasis and damage.

Yup there are a lot of parents out there that, well-shouldn't be parents. These kids are growing up in a whole new world and we are living in it with them. My 12 year old has a cell phone and an iTouch. There are rules on both devises and she knows that they will be taken away at any time if abused. Peer pressure at school is relentless, as a parent you have to be one step ahead of your kids and show them the right way.
