On 101.5 WPDH in the Hudson Valley, they were talking about this. Coop & Mulrooney show. Their whole point was that "C'mere deer" was a funny name for a deer atractant. They thought it was so funny. They said that Nugent pleaded no contest though??? Overall, what I heard was not good publicity for us hunters. It kind of irritated me and would probably irritate most people here. They made some negative and incorrect comments/statements. Then to make things worse, they replayed the segment in the evening to advertise for the morning show.

Exactly what we should have expected. He is like a cartoon character and now, it gives the anti's and all those in the middle who don't really care one way or another a way to laugh and ridicule hunters... and not take us seriously. Puts us on the defense to try to explain his actions...

Of course it's not good publicity.  I had a hunch this would be happening to Nugent sooner than later.  Nugent has always been in the face of everyone who is against hunting and guns, smack talking them down and almost daring them to prove him wrong.  What does anyone expect the other side to do now that he got caught with his pants down??  They will take every opportunity to bash him and unfortunately all of us hunters too.  THAT is why we should be careful who we have representing us.  Nugent was a time bomb waiting to go off.  Anyone who couldn't see that I feel sorry for.  No one is perfect, that is for sure, but someone as vocal and daring on the national stage representing hunting and shooting better make darned sure he doesn't get caught in a gun or hunting related incident, because it will be real bad news for him and those he claims to represent.

Oh and haveing his lawyer enter a plea deal isn't stepping up and taking responsibility is it, its sounds more like skirting the problem to me.

Ted Nugent and the specifics aside I don't think you can blame him for working out a plea.  If any one of us was in legal trouble I'd bet my left nut we'd lawyer up and get the best deal we could.  That's just common sense.

I wouldn't know, I don't commit serious enough crimes to need a lawyer. Thats just common sense.

Easy doewhacker I wasn't insulting anyone.  I'm just saying if any of us happened to be in his situation we'd do what was best or us in the long run.  So I don't think we can hold that against him.

So who here thinks that the guide he was hunting with at the time (filming him), should have known better than to have him hunting over bait and should have let him know about the ARs in the area? Maybe the guide should hold some of the responsibility for the situation as well?

Yes, I know, you should know the laws, etc. but thats not what Im asking.

You guys have a point, because no matter how crazy he is, he still is a man, but since he is...according to a recent poll in a New England Sporting magazine, the most popular of the celebrity hunters in the entire USA...and the self-proclaimed "whacker and stacker and cosmic guru of all the killers and grillers..." he is held to a higher standard, like sports stars, and politicians.

Maybe he should have not bailed so quickly. Maybe he for once should have stood up for principle, no matter the cost.

All the chest beating and holier than thou attitude really doesn't hold much water when the bullet hits the bone after all, huh?

But then, doesn't that tell us all we need to know about him? But he was a heck of guitar player.

Come on now, some will try to find anything to defend him.  I wouldn't disagree that a guide, if he had one, should have pointed out what is legal and what's not.  But, the bottom line is that this is Nugent's TV show, and Nugent is the one defending hunting and gun rights all over the airwaves, so ultimately it's he who will get the heat here, and rightfully so.  If it were some liberal anti-gun or anti-hunting person who was caught doing something, it would be safe to say that Nugent would surely not be giving them the benefit of the doubt, even if there were some legitimate doubt.  He made his bed, now he has to sleep in it I'm afraid.

If the guide knew what was going on, he should be charged as well. I don't know whether their state law accomodates that, but I see him as an accomplice...... If he was aware. Of course, after he drops a client off at the stand, he really doesn't know who is doing what. It's really not clear who was baiting the site, but I'll bet that the guide probably kept the site baited for his clients. Bait usually is a habitual thing for it to be effective ...... right?

Im not defending him, Im asking a valid question because the guide was filming him. We all get it, you dont like Nugent.  ;D

There where 2 others charged with him.

Aha!! There you go .... maybe one of them was the guide. Maybe the guide is the one who actually set the bait out ..... maybe. Ok, Uncle Ted is exhonerated. He probably didn't even know there was any bait there. Maybe. Anybody believe that one?

Ah ha! Someone answered the question lol.  ;D

I agree Doc. From SteveB's response, it sounds like that may have happened. Ive had trouble finding anything other than 200 "news" sites reporting the cut and pasted AP story.

Does anyone have any links to more info about the actual charges, case or facts?

The most serious charge was shooting the spike - which was bargained down.

No case can be made for not knowing what is a legal animal before shooting - especially from a law n order, master sportsman that Ted sells himself as.

The 2 charged where the landowners - related to Ted's cameraman.

And they all recieved lesser fines.

Links are hard to get as most of the major forums are deleting the threads.

That's nice.  These hunting and shooting forums are now trying to cover things up for him?  How is this any better than what the liberal leaning media typically tries to do?  All sides are corrupt in their own ways, if you ask me.

I like Ted,did he screw up yes.

Over all I can't stand any of the hunting actors on TV. Its not close to real in any form. The hunt ranches that raise deer insteed of cows....They feed them they put out minerals, let them live in peace to old age, cull the lesser ones just like cattle ranchers.

The deer walk round during the day in open woods during gun season because they have next to no pressure and bucks have learned man is not to fear. They don't even take the gun off the hook unless its 5 1/2 and up.

Porno's are more real then those shows.

Gotta go there's 3 sexy co-eds knocking on my door.......

Lets all wait to see what he has to say about the incident. If he has any spine he will admit his mistake. If not, he has sold out! I am betting on the latter. Both for financial gain and ego  Teddy Huntingame will offer no comment. Perhaps some of his sponsors should drop him!
