Hunting Mobile Apps/Website

Hi Everyone,

I am doing some research on an idea I have and just wondering if anyone is aware of any good hunting apps out there?

I have seen some on the Google Play Store, but for me they seem to be missing some good features...

So, what kinds of apps have you used/do you like?

What are some of the main features you might find useful in a hunting app?

I use ONX as well.  I use it for  navigation(hybrid map with contour lines is really handy) while in the woods, property lines, finding public land, arial scouting, and on my western trip the forest fire layer was handy.

Onx. Shows me where I am and where I can't go (property lines). Also like dropping"pins" on sign and nice climber friendly trees.

I know I have become overly reliant on onx for navigation. I have been in some large pieces of public land relatively flat with swamps with very few land marks. With my phone charged I'm not afraid to stay until close to dark and navigate back out by flashlight with the help of my phone occasionally. 

I suppose at some point I may be playing survivor for a night if my phone dies..lol

I use OnX alot for finding property lines, dropping pins on sign, cam locations, and stands. Sure helps me keep track of 16 cams! LOL

I use HuntStand Pro. It gives me what I need without being too confusing. I tried OnX, but thought HuntStand was easier to use. I primarily use it for finding property boundaries.

I know a guy who makes a nice fire kit.

I understand there could be some legal issues but you should be able to invite other people with onX to view your location live .

I do carry vacuum packed matches,lighter,  and a few of those charcoal starter bricks in my pack.. I've never had to use one ...yet..

I've been wanting to try / install something like this but I have a couple questions ...

1. Does the app collect user information and send it wherever ?

2. Does the app make use of all your contacts on your phone ?

3. Cost ?

i use the free app for Huntstand.  I have an earlier app and i think i get more free landowner info with it than the updated free app.  Works great for me.

There is a new one making waves - I forget the name but it has data mixed in from collared deer around the country.

I have ONx the premium or whatever it's called so I have all 50 states. Works great for the most part, sometimes it's a little off on property lines though

I use Onx also.  I hunt Allegany St park and I will download the area and save it for use while I am there.  Theres no cell service there so downloading the area to your phone beforehand is pricless and it works great
