  1. The 4th is with the family, the 5th at a Hunter Hayes/Lonestar concert then up to camp for 6 days with my girls. Campfires, fishing, shooting and more of the great stuff we do up there! I hope everyone enjoys the 4th, be safe!

  4. Fact is some people deserve prison or what ever sentence they get, and a percentage of those charged do not and get screwed. Same thing in the civil arena - some defendants get screwed, but some people certainly do deserve getting sued. Pretty foolish to automatically assume every law suit is meritless. In my dealings, I have found attorneys to generally be more honest and ethical than other professionals - usually the screwballs run for office , my theory the reason being they cant hack being a lawyer so turn to politics. Obviously, this cop did the right thing. But some LE personal have committed very egregious crimes. It is interesting that the average person mistrusts attorneys, yet has great confidence in LEOs. Funny, other people say cops have the "little man syndrome" or some variation of that. Fact is, many were the school yard bullies, not the bullied. Good thing there are people with that mentality though, we need police, somebody has to do the job ... No discredit intended to good LE personal, I am sure they find the idiots an embarrassment. What about them wildlife biologists though, bunch of liars, eh? Never trust em...

  6. I have no problem with what the cops did in this case. The child was saved and thats what counts the most IMO. Mentally disturbed or not, anyone that holds a knife to a childs throat deserves to die.

  7. Agreed... If it was my children there would not have been any attempts at negotiations.Glad all went well for that family... I could not imagine what that mother must have been feeling. That's why I always stress to my kids to stay by my side. You never know what could possibly happen in this crazy world!

  10. Been kinda slow for me lately but I did take a few shots along the way.. This is that other friendly deer I've been following around. A doe crossing the corn field.. I spent some time sitting by the humingbird feeder this morning and got a few shots I liked.... This is a lot tougher than I thought it was gonna be. A little junco in the grass.. A baby grossbeak that left the nest too soon.. And a few flowers I decided to take some pics of to keep in touch with my sensitive side..

  13. Did u work the seedbed the fall before? Try a germination test on the seed? Plant a cover crop to protect the young seedlings? I have frost seeded Mammoth and common red clover for 40+ years and have never had a failure. I like to put on frozen ground, as u tend t get a more even stand.

  15. BTW, the thing driving me nuts about the news cast, is that they call the kidnapper a "suspect" repeatedly. Its pretty clear the guy was guilty as sin, and was not a suspect, but a criminal, and kidnapper.

  18. I love happy endings.BTW all these murderers or in this case potential murderer are mentally ill.I am glad the child is safe and hope the police officer is not going to have any issues from this. It is sad that the man with the knife couldn't have been helped somehow before this day happened.

  19. I don't think I can make the call that the Nassau cop was wrong, from reports he had the gun turned on him and that's why he fired...........tough situation, I can't say he should have allowed himself to be shot if that's how he perceived what was going to happen, like they say, you can you from a hero to a zero in a split second...........I'd rather go home to my family and deal with the rest as it plays out, either way two families will be forever changed by that event.

  20. A little something for the old dogs: SEPTEMBER'S DOG Long gone is the frisky pup, With energy seemingly boundless. The old girl now moves slowly about In a world that’s essentially soundless. Where once she could hear the fog lift, She struggles now to hear even the Boss’s gun. Fond memories of long ago hunts Play again as she dreams in the afternoon sun. She is lame, and she is slow And requires more frequent trips to the vet. She’s aging fast, entering the Fall of her life; On the way down, but not out yet. Her hunter’s heart beats strong, And her nose is still keen. If she scents a bird on an infrequent hunt, Watching her trail it is a sight to be seen. Long, daily hunts are no more. Now once, maybe twice a week is all she can endure. Thereafter, she whines and moans in her sleep From soreness the best of drugs just can’t cure. It’s with the greatest of sadness That I watch her grow old. Knowing our hunting days are behind us, I’m sad for both of us, if truth be told. Her looks have changed as she’s grown older: Her quill-marked muzzle is grayer than gray. And despite my trying to feed her well, Her hindquarters continue to wither away. She will never again roam the bird fields; Won’t bust another swamp, nor run another ridge. She’ll not hunt again until we tackle The game-filled flats near the Rainbow Bridge. A hunter no more, she’s just my old friend. It comforts my heart the way she ends each day: When she struggles from her cushion to my bedside And nuzzles my hand to make sure I’m okay Yes, everyone loves a frisky new pup That plays hard, then sleeps like a log. Just give them time together, and they will learn That there’s just nothing like a good Old Dog!

  21. Well, there is a good collection of topics guaranteed to start all kinds of violent arguments. No it's not an all-inclusive list .... they left out a whole lot of real good controversial ones, but still, there isn't much there that couldn't result some very angry disagreements .... lol. I enjoyed the article.

  25. was reading this article and just thought it might intrest some of you... http://gunsmagazine.com/self-defense-is-serious-business/ Love this line!!! VVV Wait a minute! Why am I writing about self-defense? Back in March didn’t the nation’s number-one expert on firearms and self-defense answer all questions and settle all issues on the subject? My goodness, all anybody needs is a double-barreled shotgun, a balcony to blast a couple of rounds from and a door to blindly shoot through, right? Problem solved! Hmm… well, despite that sage advice from a man one heartbeat away from the presidency, let’s take a quick peep at some “best of the breed” self-defense goodies:

  28. Pretty much what US conservatives have been saying about him from the get go... one of the comments under the video says it best... "Sadly, it doesn’t seem to bother most Americans that we have a President and his wife who act like royalty and continually embarrass this Country. But, we have become a Country “intimidated” with anyone who speaks the truth, and instead are called racists. These mental dwarfs called “liberals” are an embarrassment as well. People like Martin Bashhir, Chris Matthews, and even more sickening Piers Morgan and John Daly…make us look and sound like fools. Incredible our Country has become a bunch of brainless bottom feeders."

  32. I "work" in a bank!! Lol. We got Bonnie and Clyde first and the names just fit them when they were puppies and about a year later bandit came along and and the name went with the other two. Legal disclaimer: I am not an bank robber, outlaw, or affiliated with any banks other than having accounts with them. Lol. I actually take care of the disabled.
