Its been a while since i’ve posted anything on here, but I figured this warranted it. I just got back from an 8 day trip to the Northern Alberta and got my first Bull elk!! What an ADVENTURE! 70 mile quad rides (half in the dark) into the bush, run ins with moose and grizzly bears, spending 6 days with a native tracker and learning bush craft… it was truly remarkable Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk5 points

Well it happened. It happened twice. I went this afternoon to one of my favorite stands. It was a bit windy this afternoon but in there it is not so bad. Very tight shooting huge pine forest in front bedding areas all around. I've been seeing a lot of deer so by 5:40 I thought ok one of those nights I see nothing. Around 6 I hear some branches breaking behind me. Bear or deer for sure. 10 Minutes go by and I look behind me again and there are two bucks a 6 and 4 pt. Walking right to me. I was like ok make for some nice video. I take out the phone and look back and see three more deer all mature bucks! These 5 were traveling together. The little ones went off to my side and the bigger ones were coming in. There was a beautiful 10 pt. He was just perfect and a 8 pt that was not much smaller. The one I wanted was the big guy headed right for me. I'm going to tell you he was probably 24-26 wide, great mass but his rack was all screwed up. Some tines were broken or not there I think he was old but the body size on him, Me never seen any bigger had to be 200+. Our group shot a 219lbs years ago rack and deer size looked the same. So the big guy takes the lead and heads to my left. Stops 12 yards from my stand. My tree stand is in a split tree with two trunks had to get the arrow over and shoot through them. Then my harness was in the way it was crazy. I managed to unhook it and he was still there but started to stomp. I rushed the shot. I had my 10 yard pin on his chest (probably should of been lower) and he literally fell to the ground when he heard the bow release. Arrow went right over him. Trots off with his two friends in tow. They stop 40 yards out and keep looking in my direction. I do a few few doe bleats and he starts coming back. They all do. They veer of to my left and are even with me at 20 yards. At that point I didn't have a great shot and one of the bucks starts heading away. I bleat again and they all turn and come back a few yards. He gives me a clear shot at 25 yards and I just shoot under him. The trotted away......both arrows recovered no blood. It just didn't come together for me tonight. PLUS no wounded deer just wounded ego! Honesty never in 45 years of hunting did I see 5 bucks together. Amazing and its a long season!5 points

Post your 2024 fall predator hunt videos or pics here. I'll start it off with three of the four I dropped the first week. My scope crapped the bed, so no video of these hunts. SJC3 points

These colder temperatures sure have the deer up and moving. I believe we'll have fawns in April again.3 points

Slept 4 hrs last night it played in my mind over and over. Then at 1:20 am I relized what I did wrong. When I told my Brother in law the story I said I had my 10 on his lower chest and the 20 was above the shoulder. If you read that its impossible. The 10 is your top pin the 20 should of been below the deer it is below the ten yard pin. I had my 30 on his heart area and the 20 end up on shoulder. Upon rushing the shot I did not go through a sequence I practice. I always say top ten meaning the ten yard pin is at top. I didn't do this totally my fault. I said to him last night I have heart shot deer and messed hp like this at times when does it stop? He said when you put down the bow and call it quits!2 points

Well Walz got his ass kicked almost as bad as Biden did in his debate performance, I like his taking a page out of John Kerry imitation of being a hunter playbook, that guy would sell the hunting and shooting communities out in a heartbeat. he is a Democrat and the worst kind of Democrat. For those that do not remember Al October 21, 2004 Associated Press BOARDMAN, Ohio - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry said he bagged a goose on his swing-state hunting trip Thursday, but his real target was the voters who may harbor doubts about him. Kerry returned after a two-hour hunting trip wearing a camouflage jacket and carrying a 12-gauge shotgun, but someone else carried the bird he said he shot. "I'm too lazy," Kerry joked. "I'm still giddy over the Red Sox. It was hard to focus." ---------- Commentary: Hmm....he lacks the focus to carry a goose, but he isn't at all concerned about carrying and firing a shotgun. He says he's ready to handle the "hard work" of being President, but he's "too lazy" to carry the bird he supposedly shot. Although he claims to be an avid hunter, Kerry has never joined the 315-member of the Congressional Sportsmen's Caucus. And extremist groups know his true feelings about hunting. John Kerry has a 100 percent "A" rating from radical animal "rights" groups like PETA and the Fund for Animals. UPDATE! The Drudge Report has exclusively published the Reporters Pool Report On Kerry Hunting... Not that it was staged or anything, Loftus explained: "He's going to walk down that line of corn. He'll turn down there and walk up this way. Then we will move with great dispatch up there." No questions were to be asked, we were informed. Woody, the yellow dog, was the only one who seemed to stray from stage notes. He kept running up to the man ahead carrying the fourth bird, then racing back to the four hunters, only to tag them and race back ahead. "The dog is out of position," sighed one shooter. More revelations: Kerry camo purchased just prior to photo-op; no reporters saw him fire, no reporters saw him hit; did NOT take bird as he exited our state on his private jet...1 point

I have a 1960 Marlin 336 in .35 Rem that I use sometimes in the woods. It sports an old Leupold 2X and I took the white line spaces off the stock. I think it looks much better without them. I hammers deer out to 200 yards with 200 grain soft points.1 point

My mom stopped decorating her house decades ago because she was tired of theft and destruction and this was in a medium sized village not like some big town or city.1 point

It is a bit hard to apply any scale to the critter. Nothing there to really compare it to. But I have seen some huge coyotes down here in Ontario County, and I would imagine that the Adirondacks could grow some big ones too.1 point

Hey shout out to my Brother in law Mark over in Schuylar county! I have been hunting with him for 35 years or so. We went to a traditional bow shoot in PA last summer it was great. He ordered a stick bow and practiced with it a lot this summer. All came together this morning. 18 yard heart shot on a big doe. So proud of him!!!!!!1 point

I don't know when this country is going to wake up. The government is offering these people who lost everything $750 because they used FEMA money on illegal aliens, no wait they're not all illegal Biden granted parole to hundreds of thousands like the ones from Haiti and Venezuela and flew them here at our expense. It's not Biden or Harris It's the Democrats. The president can't ruin our country alone, his party is as guilty as he is.1 point

I decorated my place for fall this weekend. Bought a bunch of Mums and pumkins to put all over along with corn stalks from my field. I put 4 pumpkins down by my mail box and the were stolen today. Really 4 pumpkins. They cost me 10 bucks. I'm not worried about the money just the fact my property was stolen. It sucks but it is going to open my eyes to new theft down the road. Some maybe time for home surveillance.0 points
