the Maverick 88 is made by Mossberg. its a looowwww end gun, good for keeping in a closet with a loaded tube. as for regualr shooting , go for the Mossberg 500 with as much $ as you can afford

ok so we know deer die from being: 1) hunted 2) predation 3) collisions with cars, trucks, trains, etc 4) getting stuck in fences, tangled antlers 5) starvation in winter 6) disease anything else you can think of? regarding disease, what are the main diseases? why dont they have longer life spans like 10-15 years?

i would want more draw weight. are you going be in a blind or in a stand try to balance your pullback? or just stealthy stalk where your shot will probably be standing ?

not a peaker per say.. but definitely need to remind myself to hold left arm solid til arrow is done traveling so kind along the same line of holding patiently and giving it a solid follow through without getting antsy

LIVE from the woods 2015 Edition! - Sixth Year Going Strong
mac replied to burmjohn's topic in Deer Hunting
a good chase this am through the thick brush. just 2 white tails up the air leaping and sprinting at lightning speed. does on high alert and getting pushed around so I'm trying to get lucky and in the middle of it. the patterns have changed big time in the last 3 days, right on time! just wish next looked colder but not as of yet -
i would probably modify/update or upgrade the 30.06.. if not then 7mm mag or 300 mag, even a 300 short mag

Cabelas Wooltimate Clothing
mac replied to NYBuckHunter27's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
wooltimate and their berber fleece with windshear are both great, ideally only buy on sale now or after season in jan/feb -

dont forget when hunting in the am that your body has been lying in a warm bed with resting heartbeat for hours. then you creep into the stand which even tho slow is the first activity you had so far that day. by the time you get situated and your mind at ease since you are amped to be out you will stay kinda warm for at least 30 +minutes BUT slowly start to re-layer because after an hour your chill will set in and you dont want to be shivering at sunrise

when you "get bored " on Saturday nights, you build nice stuff. good luck with place

probably one the better weekends to make that drive visually at least. the trees at their best and clear skies. weekend traffic is the worst even this time of the year

yup, i roll up the knit hat so enough of the ear is exposed to hear everything and pull the neck gaitor up to just to the bottom of the ear when wearing that. i need to hear my surroundings

havent seen a clear cut "no" in anything i've researched over the years so I dont think it can happen but yet I dont think it is 100% guaranteed that it cant happen

Saturday am ., confirming air was changing every 10 minutes . friday overnight was a little gusty so maybe it was the the end of the system moving through. cant wait for the cold still air with frosted on the ground.. coming soon

minimum 10am, maybe another hour if there has been activity. last week of Oct and first 2 weeks of Nov its whatever i can get. Sometimes I have to skip the early am , so I will do 11am til dark .
-
definitely, i remember last Oct 18 was the first am that was a cold drop of temps. it was a clear starry sky walking in , bumped 2 large bucks that sounded like clydesdales moving into cover only to have them circle back 2 hours later. no shot opportunity but i remember that morning

this pipedream is many many years away from any possibility . and IF/when it does happen, you know there will be only be a small # of tags allowed in a pretend lottery whereby most of the tags will go to "insiders" . because NY is on the up and up

short version from wikipedia: A paper road is a road laid out in a development or subdivision plan. Paper roads may exist only on paper, never having been developed, but they have a legal existence, whether on private or public land.
