Ok for years we have been doing an informal mature bucks only. However the land owners and hunters land covers a few miles north and south and 2 roads with spill over east and west. We don't have any spread or points minimum mature bucks only,,almost had a mandatory you shoot it you mount it rule though....... Young and new hunters can shoot what the want and I'm sure others around do as well,even so we have seen quite a turn around in buck size. Many hold out for 4 1/2 and over, and several are taken each year. Growing them is the easy part keeping them around and calm is the hard part. You need to change how guys hunt. We don't allow,drives,pushes,stalking,still hunting,no walking around,park your atv at the barn.watch the wind,slip in slip out. Also we have parts off limits at all times. Some guys have once a year stands that are only used well once a year, when the wind is perfect and the timing is Correct for that set up. This could be a bedding area a few days into gun season . The pressure( such that it is) keeps the big guy in his core bedding area and since nobody has set foot in there even once he feels safe there. It takes discipline but the pay off can be great. I know guys who don't enter the core area in the dark " before the buck" because a mature buck will not enter without scent checking it. They move in slow and quite a couple hours after light and he is bedded down.March is the time to cut the trail and hang the stand, don't come back till that one day in the season. Is 1,000 acres enough? I have no idea I think it may be if you can keep them around ,once others see the improvement the idea should spread. Our ag land is plowed right after harvest and that changes patterns for us, some guys do food plots to keep them around. Give them cover,food and little pressure . Good luck.

I get it . Normally I'm a function guy myself .i understand the frustration some have with sharpening , I sure sharpen a bunch for guys at work here is a pic. Marbels in front Puma Whitehunter next and a Robeson carried in WWII by a U.S. marine in the Battle of The Bulge. Many hunters are known for putting a grand into a bow or rifle but think a "good" knife should cost no more then 50 bucks. For $200 you can get a custom made fixed blade and the maker will sharpen it for life. It'll out live the owner .

I could not do it. I'm a knife guy,I take pride in the edges I put on the same way a reloader may feel about his special load he worked . It's a skill an outdoorsman should know,I can shave with any knife I own,ok I own dozens and a few thick beveled ones maybe not pop hair ,but scrape . The knife to me is the most personal item an outdoorsman owns. These just lack soul,feel,history,looks ,style , not to mention handle other uses that come up outdoors that may not matter to some ,to me it's a big deal . But then some shave with spray foam and plastic paint scampers,and I use shaving soap a badger brush and Merkur razor. I own my Grandfathers Marbels fixed blade from1,911 ,still works well on deer ,I own my Dads pre 64 Whitehunter two classics that still do it and will be passed down generations and be as functional as they are beautiful .

Interesting that with all that damage and short time frame they say they are looking at electrical issues, that must have come from interviews of owners and those doing the remodeling .

Lots of wind blown snow , but not nearly as much snow fall as they said. Driving to work this afternoon I lost sight of the road a couple times...... Wife lost power at the house for a few hours,that's the way it goes on this job,go to work fixing others problems. Hope the wife can handle ours. Stay warm.

The Shield is nice, I love mine. Conceals easy,shoots well and while it's my first 9 in 30 years of owning handguns,I'll say ammo is around and the price is better then other calibers I buy. The price is pretty good too. With the 8 round mag it fits my hand great, but I don't have big mits. Best bet is visit a gun shop, and try a few on for size. Narrow it down then research them. Every guy here will name a different gun.....

Gun,holster,belt cover garment. It's a system with the right parts bigger guns can be carried. Today there are plenty of compact and subcompact 9mm and .40 cal that I think would serve you better,many have been mentioned above. Karh, SW Shield ,baby Glocks, the Rugars ,there are more but trying to keep it simpler . Visit a gun shop. Btw I have a LCP it ok for what it is, but I found the finger tip extension and Hogues Handall grip really makes a differance . One of my favorite hunts. I seldom do the early in the woods thing for turkey ,hit the woods by my house at 9:00 Had a hard time hearing because the middle school across the road was having gym class outside,soccer I believe. But I heard some birds followed by a hen attacking my hen decoy, then this guy showed up. Done by 9:30,perfect.

That's a great light culver and a very good web site!I buy my cr123 batteries from them. Belo not sure what/who your comments are directed to. But your right that's the trade off. For me,I prefer to light someone up to Id them and NOT be pointing my gun at them, plus when using the Harries grip with the light , I find it lights up the front site pretty good as well. No experience with rail mounted light,nothing against them,just don't want to be pointing muzzle at someone I'm id'ing with flashlight. The military and Many police depts seem to favor rail mounted though, but i'm not in a war zone ,just a subdivision with my family that comes and goes.

The lights your talking about are known as " forward clickies " you can soft press it and it comes on as long as you have pressure on it, take thumb off light goes off ,momentary light. Hard press so it clicks and it stays on. Some are reverse click, you have to hard press so it comes on,then soft press so it goes off momentary. Avoid those for SD. One of the hottest lights right now is Fenix PD35 . Forward clickie and like 5 settings from a soft " moon glow" to 850 lumens. You can set it to come on at any level that suits your needs. Soft press switch to ramp it up if needed. Trust me your buddy who thinks his light is bright, will walk away with his head down muttering to himself....

Wondered when I would find this here. Had he shot when it first charged well ok .even though that was because he advanced.....but he did not learn his lesson and kept advancing. Moron. But to keep moving forward he took the fight to the moose for some reason. The big issue I see is he's a complete fool for posting,emailing, or I general passing the video on . NO possible good could ever come from that, I'll bet a weeks pay that video will lead to an investigation by his game dept. At the least. Somebody knows him,somebody will back trace the postings, maybe get a reg.number off the sled. This story is going viral and It will be seen on nationwide news/ info entertainment shows very soon.

I'm a flashlight junkie... Surefire, Fenix, Olight,Quark, 4sevens,Streamlight and so forth. My current favorite hand light is a Fenix PD35 850 lumens with strobe ! The issue is that setting is to bright for indoors the blowback will blind yourself ! As I found out one morning as I got up work work and saw 2 guys outside checking mail boxes and then my daughters car,I lit them up, and half blinded myself..... I now have it set on a lower setting for indoors. Without question the high intensity strobe is the best for stopping cars when on the job, and walking the dog.......
