  1. I use 15 footers, cheap ones from Dicks. Most of them I bring in all assembled , I carry them on my shoulder,I wear a backpack and try to rest the beam on the strap. Easy walk really.
  2. We re already looking forward to the road trip ! My crew and I will go when we re on nights, leave firehouse 8 or so in the morning get breakfast ride down load up on ammo and fireworks! Get home in time for a couple hour nap before heading back in. Not making the trip to buy 4 or 5 boxes, there will be a comma in the number.
  3. It's so regional . It's green and in the 40s here in Monroe county same where I hunt in Ontario county. I'm not to worried, heavy snow and cold temps that stay, might be a a game changer .
  4. Not really micro in the sense of LCP and Kel tec. About the size of most small 9mm like my Shield and Karhs . That said I like it although it's getting trashed on many gun forums, for being size of a 9 power of a 380 . But for small hands, new shooters. Could be nice.
  5. Right. I'm not a "fan" of many things doesn't mean I'm trying to do away with them. His sons are hunters and defend and promote hunting, they learned to hunt because their Grandfather taught them. Just seems like hunting skipped a generation in the Trump family. That said I'm not a big Donald supporter. As a businessman he did file for bankruptcy 4 times..... My wife who's part of her job is trying to get money out of bankrupt companies is really not a Donald fan.
  6. Here's a nice one a friend just trapped.
  7. If you like Jeremiah Johnson pick up,the book Crow Killer, the saga of Liver eating Johnson. It's the book the movie is based on, they left the part out of the movie that he ate the livers of the Indians he killed.....
  8. Start a night trick tomorrow.sub zero temps. Neg.30 wind chill. Should be a fun time to fight fires.
  9. I'm hearing , just word on the street right now, that the guy MAY be retired form a local east side town PD......starts with B...... Just a rumor. Right now.
  10. No kidding at the very least pull his permit. First off not an accidental discharge, but a negligent discharge. Here's a thought keep your finger off the trigger And it's pretty hard to go off. As some say " keep your bugger hook off the bang switch". Then there is pulling it out in a crowded restaurant , showing it to a friend loaded ( the gun, don't know about him) Oh and don't point a gun at anything your not willing to destroy........
  11. I'm putting this in chit chat for most exposure. Many here have questions but are having trouble finding where to get answers, and somethings can't be answered but here's a start. http://www.governor.ny.gov/nysafeact/gun-reform http://www.nysrpa.org. New York State rifle and pistol assc. http://www.nyfirearms.com/forums/. NYS gun forum, go to firearms in the news, and Law and politics . Many attorney's post there including 2 who are involved in the law suits.
  12. My last Olds mini van. I kid not. Took out middle seats , bow rode on rear seat. I hunt a large farm park on farm lane ways no 4x4 needed. I would get there, step into middle part of van and change clothes inside, push a button and door would open and close almost silent. Had enough room to nap laying down inside. When I got a deer I'd open both side doors, lay out the tarp, bring deer next to van,hop in and it was easy for one guy to just pull backwards through van step put other side. It was what maybe a foot off the ground loading deer was a snap. Tons of room for deer, totes, guns, bows and stealthy for suburban hunts. When folks see a truck and one with deer or camo stickers along a road other hunters are thinking things like gee I did not know you can hunt there,or he's always in there must be good. Drive mini van dress like a bird watcher ,hiker.......orange vest and 8 inch .44 mag.comeout off road.
  13. From an attorney involved in the lawsuits . Technically a district court opinion would only apply in that district but rarely does one district within the same state (even though these are federal districts) not follow the decision of another. It does happen however. While his claim is technically correct in law, it is very sad and unfortunate that some will kick and scream against this law going down when it only hurts those seeking legitimate self defense. Criminals are laughing at all of this. Only a decision from the Second Circuit Court of Appeals would apply to all districts in the circuit. In my view, the ten rounds is dead, but we don't have a statewide ruling on that yet. Fitzpatrick is just being overly aggressive. But he will not be the one that votes on whether to convict. I don't see any jury convicting anyone of seven round use.
  14. This thread really should be moved to ,Gun and hunting laws ... Or general chit chat for more exposure . Anyone interested in the safe act and the various law suits should really go to Nyfirearms.com there they can read for hours, many posts by the attorneys bringing suit, daily updates.
  15. That's just f$&ed up. The SCOTUS said guns in common use are protected under 2A. NY judge says these guns are in common use, then that they can be banned.
  16. Wow I've been waiting hours for this to show up,here...To those of us closely following the cases, this is not good news.... Yes we got to,go back to ten rounds, our lawyers thoughts were for a lot more. But we keep, fighting and hope the SCOTUS agrees to hear it,although some feel they won't touch it. If they do,it needs to reach them before new appointments for it to go our way. If you want to read the judges findings here ya go . http://kingofallwebs.com/Skretny/Skretny-Decision.pdf It is not a start because the lawyers bringing the cases say the same thing..... Go over to NYfirearms.com and you can read their comments and follow the cases.
  17. Not doing anything special ,food or otherwise .in the past did it all from parties, hotels ,nice dinners and so on . It's no big deal to is anymore. Just glad I'm not working nights, hate working New Years Eve.lets see had a triple fatal fire, double homicide, fatal mva on past NYE and every normal idiot in the ghetto is extra drunk that night....
  18. I once saw Early hanging trail cams. !!! Other than that I'd say the hot air ballon practicing touch and goes in a field just a bit past my turkey decoys.... You have no idea how much I wanted to touch a 3 inch 12ga round off to,see if it scared them enough to,fall out of the basket.... Then there was the time during deer season I was in the Cameron Hilton and I let this ugly chick hunter bring me back to my trailer ,
  19. Ricochet info turns out bullets have to follow laws of physics ...... Lower angle much greater risk. https://onlinecourses.science.psu.edu/frnsc200/sites/onlinecourses.science.psu.edu.frnsc200/files/Projectile_Ricochet_-_2010%20(FILEminimizer).ppt You should really enjoy this link.... http://scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=5678&context=jclc
  20. [quote name="Doc" post="275257" timestamp= Was I supposed to be impressed by hunting "trick-shots"? Sorry, I have no idea how many other times he has been blazing away with entirely different results. Ever wonder how many wounding failures a guy has to go through just to learn how to shoot at running deer? After all, there aren't a whole lot of different ways that you can practice shooting a target that is running full-tilt through the trees and bouncing up and down at the same time, other than just flinging lead until you get the knack of it. I Agee to a point. I know a few avid duck and rabbit hunters who happen to be very good at dropping running deer as well. I work with a guy that owns a few Blueticks that he runs coyotes with, mile upon mile upon mile day after day . He drops piles of them each year all on the run, some up close with #4buck many not so close with a rifle . He's pretty good on running deer. If most of ones long gun shooting is standing or worse sitting still shooting at a non moving target a box or two a year " to make sure my gun is still on" lol. Yes please only shoot at close non moving targets.
  21. Some info kinda...". https://www.facebook.com/NYSRPA/posts/10152148492386489
  22. Some are saying they called the hotline, and there is no fee. The state police are said to comment on this sometime this afternoon , where and just when we don't know. Some feel its Tom King stirring up an old rumor , who knows.
  23. $10 raising to $20...... Well perhaps all the hunters who never cared much about pro gun issues( the Fudds as they are called) will start to care now when their box of slugs that go on sale for a few bucks as loss leaders will care when they add twenty bucks to the cost. I'm almost looking forward to the car pools going down to Penn to buy in bulk, get our fireworks on the same trip, should be a fun Sat.
