city/suburban folk care nothing about deer when deer start to affect them. I'm sure temporary fences or barricades would be put up at the NYS border. where it's more level and open they'd hire out excavation companies to dig trenches to keep the deer in and instead head away from the border. NYS would order a shoot on sight but keep your distance until the caracass(es) could be collected. they'd even probably have the national guard and LEOs go shooting them with their AR-15 rifles. they will blast away not realizing they're loaded up with FMJ rounds. lots of deer will suffer from being wounded. the state will then be quarantined and despite not showing any other danger it will still be illegal to take game or have venison or deer mounts in your possession. even great grandpy's buck that clearly looks old as the hills. NYS will simply say it's deer remains and it has to go. then Cuomo will say there's no way to hunt deer so you don't need guns to hunt deer as they can be used as "assault weapons". they will be banned too, but "everybody will be safe as there's no scary deer or guns to harm you. Now vote for me (Cuomo) for President."

that's a big bear. congrats to him. i've held bear cubs from a local zoo years back but I've yet to see one in the wild.

biggest cut expandable you can find or any of the bigger ones. too much penetration with muzzy. you want to have shock help cripple the bird. Rage Turkey head works well. Waddles and up are tough to hit on a bird, as the head is always moving and when in full strut it's a smaller target.

So I got an Ultradot red dot sight and put it on my pretty new stock Ruger Mark III Hunter. Shot at standard 25 yards resting on the shooting window/box. I used CCI AR Tactical 22lr (40gr 1200fps). 10 shot group. I pulled two and anticipated one.

The disgruntled hunter -Deer and Deer Hunter article

I don't pay attention to moon phase, as I hunt whenever I can, regardless of the phase. that said it's tied to certain days of the year and using certain points of the rut phases. I think it's more consequential than the deer actually looking up and saying ok the moon is like that, so time to run around. -
Yea I don't really care for those Remington Golden Bullets if that's what you're talking about. I've gotten bricks of CCI from Dick's Sporting Goods and some local shops though.

they're nice.

I have and use both the judo and blunt points. the blunt points will just wound a squirrel if you graze it so you might need a follow up, but they don't ruin meat like a judo. neither will drive into and under the forest floor duff.

i just have gotten into the pistol thing this past year. i picked up 9mm, one for me (Sig P226 Elite Scorpion) and one for my wife (Beretta PX4 Storm Compact). 9mm is manageable. cost of cheapest rounds i can find have been 25-32 cents per round for the 9mm. bunch of avid shooters told me i should get a 22 pistol for cheaper practice and develop good shooting skills. said you won't learn enough after 500 rounds. after 10,000 rounds you've really started to figure stuff out and shooting anything other than 22 will be expensive. so picked up a Ruger Mark III Hunter. Now I'm shooting bullseye leagues with it. Happy will all my guns purchased.

yea i break my Prohunter down, clean everything, and then put it away. makes a mess if you shoot once or a dozen times. i taped my muzzle and left it out in the unheated garage this season with a load in it and it was fine and dead on.

I've had not so great results in the past with them but lately the last 6 deer I've taken with 250gr Hornady SSTs have left a blood trail decent enough. i use them because they're an accurate bullet/sabot a long ways out. if your shots are close maybe try barnes expanders or Hornady XTP Mags.

my cousin still hasn't cleaned his muzzleloader despite me harassing him and offering to clean it. he'll learn.

missed this thread. i went out Sat and Sun. no pictures to share though sorry. had 3 hours to hunt that Saturday. i ended up taking a buck at about 30 yards and only made it 40 before piling up. Sunday we got hit with a lot of snow. made it up on the hill some how around or through the snow drifts with the atv. still hunted in the fresh snow and got within 40 or so yards of a doe. we both spotted each other. she was in hiding mode staring at me in her bed. i squeezed off my only shot, the smoke cleared, and there she layed still in her bed. getting back with her in tow was difficult. many times i had to unhook her from the atv, walk the atv through the drifts, and then tow her through them by hand. hung her on a scale in the garage back at home. scale got to 100lbs, with no more room to raise, and her head and neck still planted into the concrete floor. i love hunting with the muzzleloader. just wish it wasn't so cold and stormy when i do.

that was me this past season... i was going out there with a Bear Super Kodiak recurve. tuned it and set it up. went to a girl crafts store to get yarn that matched my bow's wood and made string silencers. some of the best hunts I've had all season. had piles of deer within a few yards. had deer that close that never heard me shoot enough to be alarmed. it's unfortunate my bow delaminated and i got in a car accident getting a banged up shoulder. contacted Bear and they sent me a new one to replace it. so now this coming season i'll do it all over again, minus the shoulder and bow issues.

politics has to do with everything. it's just the way it will always be. Maybe he's overstepping his bounds, but he'd only do it if he was getting pressure from a lot of the sportsmen community in the districts he represents. A lot of good legislation has gone into wildlife conservation in the past, despite it all not being good. I think calling elected politicians slime for putting up a pole or survey is uncalled for. don't whine and instead participate in the pole, making your voice heard. if you trash every politician out there how will you ever have their support. politicians who are involved with sportsmen are what we need and more of them in our corner. not those like our governor with a personal agenda or others that sit on their &^% collecting a pay check.

depends on what you've got... for a basic fixed modified choke 20ga Federal Heavyweight Flight Control Works well. In my Mossberg 500 20ga, Remington Wingmaster HD always shot and worked well.

best one I've worn is the one i have now. it's the Cabelas Super Tat'r III in non other than Realtree APG. a couple changes I'd make but I've worked around them and still vary happy with it.

find the biggest hub blind you can find with at least one vertical window. material for some are better versus the some cheaper ones.
