  1. 2 pitbulls? are these neighbors dogs? the one has a collar on. there should be multiple heavy fines out there now a days for stuff like this which hopefully will stop the homeowners from letting the dogs out at all. right??
  2. My centerpoint sniper 370 outshoots my friend's Wicked Ridge... I can shoot golf-ball sized groups at 40 yards... with no wind, field tips, consistent arrows, etc.. Beyond 40 yards is a tougher shot for me resulting in considerably more spread.. If my budget was $1000, which it wasn't, I would bump up to a high end Ten Point, Excalibur, or a Mission by Mathews... for that price range it should be shooting 375+ fps... Good luck
  3. I don't think so, there always is a late rut period, in my experience.... I shot a 4.5-5.5 year old buck on November 26, he came in downwind of my Tink's setup... not to mention pressure will be down as most hunters are out of the woods by this time of the year
  4. Sounds perfect to me they'll have to move.. maybe use some estrous... But I have a 8a-4p job, which is pretty much legal shooting time lol.. waiting for the weekend.. good luck
  5. Glad he was caught. Nothing in that story whatsoever sounded like a fair chase kill. Every youtube video i see of baiters no matter what state and their deer population problem makes me so mad!! Like probably an unhealthy level of mad!
  6. ...Sounds like he is looking for a hunting buddy... but he has to know that how to move about the property is the most important part of seeing deer, especially right now with hunting pressure. Make it clear how many years you've been managing the deer there too so he passes on babies... Maybe tell him in a nice way how he needs to move in and out of the property without being detected by you and most importantly the deer. Good luck
  7. late season, at least where I hunt, I would say 90% of people are out of the woods.. Right now I would say 70-80% of people have cleaned and hung up their guns for the year. Try and catch the late rut and get a slammer!!
  8. Ok great.. The previous comment wasn't appreciated is all. Sorry that happened today during your sit. Cant say it has happened to be before so i dont know how i would feel...
  9. Whoa.. Amazing deer... So heavy My fiance's mom lives in Wisconsin. This is probably the only reason I would ever visit! The deer hunting that is.. Not my mother in law lol
  10. Hunt 5 acres and saw a couple freshened up scrapes and a new rub today. Tons of traffic.. Haven't hunted in a week. Should be getting into a late rut very soon. Maybe try and pattern the does with your cam? Good luck
  11. I had Evercalm from last year and just a heads up they definitely lose a lot of the potency... It does work but it has to be freshly opened cause my stuff from last hunting season barely even stinks anymore. I use it on my boots every time in and out of my stands, and also on scent drags hanging around my stand
  12. I think you wont see too many mature bucks making mistakes right now as they're likely walking circles in the thickest cover imaginable until nighttime. Go hunt the close spot. Hunting pressure and pushers moving deer might displace some younger deer and doe groups to you if you're looking for meat. Late season and late rut and cold weather will get older bucks back out into the shooting lanes
  13. I would certainly sit between that corn and the closest block of woods as it is being cut... when farmers are harvesting I always see more deer movement
  14. well the chest freezer only took a couple days for her to notice but now she is very happy we finally have one.... and our generator is on the way but she wont be happy about that one lol
  15. rob h&f you always start great threads that i must respond to... i already bought myself a new chest freezer, generator, and jerky making kits. all of this needs to be kept from the fiance of course.. merry christmas to me lol
  16. I shot a buck this past sunday on a 5 acre property behind a row of houses. Get er done!
  17. a cabela's wooltimate ninja hood. no freezing wind or rain will smack you in the face ever again.. also I started using an under armour cold gear hand muff which I throw hand warmers in.. don't even really need gloves, just on the walk in and out
  18. Where I am in 8G and 8H the rut was very late.. I shot a 4.5 to 5.5 year old buck this past Sunday morning 7:15-7:30ish a few minutes after some does came by.. He was sniffing around... I also had Tink's estrous out and he came from downwind of my estrous.... keep up with your scent regiment and how you get in and out of your stand is my recommendation
  19. I try to break up my outline, keep very still, and use UV killer on my clothes. I do wear all camo during bow. I haven't been in a ground blind in years. During gun my coat is 100% orange.
  20. Good luck. We really enjoy doing our plots. We're lucky to till an old horse pasture about 3/4 acre which booms every year. Tall Tile Tubers doesn't get touched where I live, don't know why... Neither does alfalfa. Clover gets hammered, and beans and peas are usually gone real early lol
  21. A couple years ago I had a Cabela's cam that crapped out after like 13 or 14 months.. It was fairly new, I think it got water into the unit... I called and was told it had a year warranty, but the person was nice and told me to ship it back and I would receive a new one in the mail anyway. I don't remember if I paid for shipping or not... but all my Cabela's cams work great. I have a WGI trail cam I bought in 2011 and it's still going strong. Big blinding flash with a nice viewing screen on it. It has survived terrible weather, snowstorms, etc.. lol
  22. Bushnell & Cabela's... We have 3 or 4 Cabela's and their customer service is the best if something goes wrong. I get the one with the viewing screen so I don't have to pull it out of the woods too often...
  23. I've been hunting a 5 acre property this year where deer come from all different directions so I constantly need to know wind direction to get in and out of my stand undetected. I find if I don't keep up with scent control, don't pay attention to the wind, or am hunting with another person or two that I know aren't careful like me, then I wont see any deer..... So basically the only thing I change up for gun season is I bring a coffee to my stand
