Will that 11th point be a deduction? Likely 140 gross... I was fortunate to take a 141 gross 11 pointer, 2 inch deduction scored 139. Very similar looking deer to mine. Best of luck, those are beautiful deer

8H we rattled in a 2.5 yo 8 ptr this week.. My buddy took him at 13 yds. First 15 mins of light, came in on a string when he heard horns. Sprayed our area with buck bomb dominant buck on our way to the stands. Just one of those times the stars aligned! Good luck everyone

so you think somebody was poaching and baiting? Youth gun season, or is Oct 2 too early for that where you are?? Sounds like he knows what goes on and is trying to keep any bad publicity out of his area? Very strange...

I am a doctor, and I do have/had lyme disease it's pretty scary when left untreated. not only do you quickly become very ill but it starts to cause strange and sudden neurological symptoms. I was taught the tick only has to be attached for 6 to 8 hrs to transmit the disease... so yes, trust your gut

Your favorite brand of hunting gear
JRod 8G8H replied to StevieSacs's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
For me, Cabelas continues to be quality clothing and can always catch sales online. Have some Gamehide clothing too. As for boots I've had the best results with Lacrosse. -
Wow great buck. Is he cruising through or hitting a scrape there? Best of luck

Cool looking buck good luck!

wow what a buck... rattling has been working for us here in 8G & 8H just within the past few days... bucks all reek like tarsal gland... best of luck keep us posted

Have you seen the muzzy trocar HB? That makes me feel a little better about using a mechanical... checking reviews on a daily basis for those regarding penetration, flight, failure, quality, etc...
-
During the peak rut I've seen several mature bucks blast through the woods full speed, chasing everything in its path, late morning.. Right around that time we all want to climb down.. 10-11 ish.. I personally plan on doing semi-all day sits this year, only to get down for an hour or two, on Nov 8, 9, 10..Good luck!!

interesting thread let us know how those Chinese ones work..... I have rage, caught them on sale, includes the practice head as well.... but looking at it am so afraid they wont open that I still use muzzy trocar. Good luck

I think everybody has problems with rain gear. Cabela's makes nice waterproof camo with Gore-tex, or Dry-plus.. I wear a Gore-tex boonie hat which helps.. tree umbrella is a good idea too although I've never used one

Opening morning saw 20+ deer (42 degrees) .. Gone out a couple more times and seeing does only, moving quite slow too. Hot temps and abundance of food as stated above. Night time trail cam pics for the most part.. -
very sorry to hear that.... thank you for sharing your memories here that is what this community is all about

I took off Nov 3, 8, 10 for perhaps some all day sits... .. hoping to not need any more time off than that

hunting without a truck how do you transport your deer
JRod 8G8H replied to Chef's topic in Deer Hunting
we used to tie it down on top of the minivan... blood would continuously drain all over the windows lol. but a hitch hauler is great to let the deer air out while you drive.. never put a deer in a trunk before... I like the suggestion above about tying rope to the trunk hinges too.. -
as I get older I stick to ladders.. but I make sure to spend the extra money and have the seat that flips up... When standing it goes up. The shooting rail is a plus. I try to lean some thick branches on the ladder to blend it in the best I can. I've even anchored burlap camo wrap to make sure my legs and feet are covered... good luck
-
sunday morning was nice n cold...saw 20-25 deer, 3 small bucks.. and last night I only saw 2 deer likely button bucks ... looking for one of the mature bucks I've been seeing on my cam.. I realized this week I have little to no uninsulated camo lol
