What kind of dog for birds
tuckersdaddy replied to cynthiafu's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
Alot of great breeds... The question is do you have the yime to train them? Growing up I had a shepard that would tree squirls. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
With the pics you show....a weed eater with a brush blade to cut paths will do more to improve your hunting than clear cut and plots. those pics show awsome cover... Once pressure hit you are more apt to find deer in cover during the day, feeding during non huntimg hours . You can round up the pathes and plant clover or barassicas in the giving the deer room service. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Where is NYS's version of Donald Trump
tuckersdaddy replied to Doc's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The last election was a Romney kind of election... no excitment to get the voters out. The reason Trump and obama one is they were able to create excitement. A 'not a city democrate' isnt enough. We need a canidate that can actully stir the souls of voters and get them to the poles. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

Need advice for a plot(pic attached)
tuckersdaddy replied to Jeremy K's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
The deer are not so much eating the corn....which they do... but they are hiding in the tall stalks... Get rid of that cover they go find it else where. Food is easy, cover is not. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

Yesterday I dragged my dads last deer

Althogh the loss is great, the memories will be with you. May you and your family be at peace with him leaving doing what he loved with the people he loved. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
What I noticed is there is no one else in the woods. The deer have settled down, and with the consistant snow fall, finding where they are is just a mater of finding a fresh track and follow. Ive discovered alot of bedding and feeding areas on stateland that have been overlook for years. And the oddest part of it is none of them have been in the deep knarly stuff. The no pressure is a whole new learning curve. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Show us your pets..dogs , cats , whatever you got
tuckersdaddy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
we have 2 cats... 2 dogs. 1 cat rules.. period. the dogs will chase the other cat around the house, but after the chase the dogs end up in my lap and the cat will jump up and lay on top of them. The ruling cat will play, lay with the others, but when the dog get out of line the cat will claw them. ends up being a circus at times! Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -

best/worst game animal you've eaten?
tuckersdaddy replied to rachunter's topic in Game Recipes / Cooking
Alot of good and bad is how its prepared. Ive eaten some nasty game... but it was cooked by the same people that can make a hot dog taste like a boot. The first time i had Can. goose it was quite harsh. no seasoning cood in an oven bag so it was sort of poached. nasty. The seacond time i had it, goose jerky. spectacular. There are some decent ones here in NY...Buffallo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Rockland cc, but if you put them all together, then add in the gun shows in those towns its still smaller then Harrisburg. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Isnt this the same group that is bent all out of shape because early in bow season in some areas its doe only and the repeated complaint is the gun people arent required? So the state opens all remaing tags to doe only or either or.....hmmmm. Look at the big picture. Those who hunt hard through bow and reg have filled thier buck tags. fewer people hunt late season bow or mz. And how many buck tags are used on does?.. I think this is alot about nothing. Fewer jobs are better then no jobs..... 16 million in construction is better in Ohio then Mexico. Money kept here by United Tech. Us is better then United Tech Mex. See a trend in that up? Yes your friends barry and hill would be waving goodby and shrugging thier shoulders, but hey what do they care thier set for life. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk

Ruger mini 30 any good for deer?
tuckersdaddy replied to Deerstalker's topic in Rifle and Gun Hunting
the mini 14s in the early years were not ruger barrels... and yes they were inconsistant. That only lasted a few years. My mini 30 will clover leaf a 5 shot group at 100 yrds with the right ammo. Now there is alot of junk 762x39 ammo on the market so you will have to do some trial and error to find the combo that works...or reload then its right everytime. What makes or breaks certain hunters?
tuckersdaddy replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in Deer Hunting
sometimes people simply dont see the deer... Me included. I have sat on stand a few hours watch the same patch of ground and all of a sudden a deer will pop up and take off. He saw me I never saw him. But its expirences like that that keep me comming back. Its thier house, thier rules so its all of what you make of it. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk -
Oh how i wish more property owners did this! Start with a map of the area, and pin the harvests, pin the cam sightings of deer you would have like to harvested, then pin general sightings of other deer. Get the layout of what on the ground at Those times, then you can compair all the info within the clusters that should develop. You will then be able to better guess where the deer will be and why. Was it food, cover or rut that put them at certain time and places? if its raining are they in another? does wind direction push them to somewhere else? You already have the toughest part done (gathering the info) now have some fun even after the season and see if you can start predicting herds or single deer. Also good for finding out other things such as preditors and tresspassing. Also you can use it to keep tabs on your herd or for planning plots and property improvement. If its your property keep the cams up year round. the more info you plug in the better you will be. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
