No thanks needed. We both gained insight and knowledge today. Looking forward to seeing you in a picture, with a mature buck this year! You have all the tools needed to make it happen. Just need a pinch of luck. I'll send you a bunch!

Congratulations PREDATE! Got some fine eats right there!

Too hot to hunt, let's see those shooting benches.
grampy replied to Buckmaster7600's topic in General Hunting
Put a few down range today. But time and weather put our old bench to rest for good. Soooo, used the tailgate on my truck while sitting on a milk crate. And a few shots just off hand from the crate as that is how the majority of my hunting set ups are. I can post a pic of my tailgate?......grin. Need to do what Buckmaster7600 did! Nice work buddy! I'll buy the 12 pack if your ever over my way. -
No hunting for me today. Just too warm for what I'm looking for to be on their feet. So met up with Rebel Darling for coffee and a little woods walk, on some land I'm familiar with. What a great guy he is! Very knowledgeable and knows how move about the deer woods! Had a great time! Then on to farm work and a little trigger time.

Live from my easy chair. Going to meet up with Rebel Darling and possibly Biggamefish at 10 for coffee and info swap. Pouring here right now. Hoping it clears out so I can get some trigger time on my hunting rifle afterwards.

Taking cell phone pic's up the skirts of residents at a local nursing home.

Uh oh Biz, pretty sure that is the deadly coochamarango viper! Sometimes called "ol' two step", cause after being bitten, you usually expire after two steps. They are prolific breeders too! Can have up to 1000 young, twice a year. For some reason, they are found almost exclusively around dwellings with Weatherby rifles, Mathews bows and Red Sox memorabilia inside! Course, I googled all this info, so I may be wrong. But I'd be careful buddy!...........grin.

My guess is, she caught your scent from a slight swirling wind or a thermal. And deer do the unexpected all the time.

My friends, this could be the best post all year! Jay, huntings future, is in wonderful hands, with young hunters like your daughter. I think many among us have learned from her! The apple didn't fall far from the tree here. And she is so lucky to have a mentor and dad, like you my friend. She is wise beyond her years! When she walks up to that first deer, all will be 'right' in the woods, and in your hearts. That, more than anything, is what hunting is all about. My hat is off to both of you. Wishing her the very best of luck next time out.

Jeez.......thought I was the only one who had that refined......lol

In my easy chair, following the 'live from the stand' thread. Not feeling so great, so decided to go back to bed after the 4am alarm. Very warm out, so probably not missing much with hit list buck movement. Don't feel like processing a deer today, so the plump doe are safe too. Will go out tomorrow morning, for a quiet sit to watch the sun rise. Will hunt a fringe area as I'm not willing to tip my hand on a good set up, until cooler temps and more buck activity later in the month.

Got up at 4, but not feeling so great and went back to bed. Will give it a try tomorrow morning. Will be meeting up with Rebel Darling after a morning sit. I'll head over to the farm shortly to check cams and shoot some rounds through the Sako. Best of luck to all out there! But really pulling for Jay and Sam!

IMO....One of the best weekends of the season! The future of hunting lies in the hands of todays youth hunters. A big thumbs up to the mentors out there! And best of luck to all the youth hunters! Looking forward seeing the smiling faces, along with the deer.

Thoughts and prayers humbly sent to him, his family and friends. May God bless you all. I've always tried to see the beauty and fun of each day. My grandfather said, to make a memory a day! How right he was. The older I become, the more those words ring true. In the end, all we will leave behind are the memories.

Welcome! Nice to have you join us! A couple suggestions for you. Bring a GPS, so that you can mark good spots you may find. And to find your way back to your vehicle. Venture off the marked trails. Look for swamps and dense thickets. Follow along the edges until you see a run coming out with lots of deer tracks. Find a large tree or stump that is downwind and 15 to 20 yards off that trail. Sit down in front of or behind the tree and be still as possible. That will be a starting point. As each time you go out you will pick up and learn, a little something more. Most of all, enjoy every second you are out in natures splendor! Have fun! Best of luck to you! Check back in with us as often! You will no doubt have more questions than answers.

Love my coffee. Don't drink it on stand though. Except on opening day of gun. Tradition. Even had to set it down a few times over the years to pick up the gun.

Got plans to meet up soon. Looking forward to it!

Do You Support Crossbow Full Inclusion into the NY Archery Season?
grampy replied to tughillmcd's topic in CrossBow Hunting
This back and forth can go on for another 39 pages, like many of the crossbow debates have done in the past. But,.........full inclusion, 'WILL' be coming within the next few years. Like it or not. I think after that happens, some will see that the 'sky did not fall'. -
Welcome! Great to have you join us! moog5050 said it best, just read, google, and get out there! You'll learn something each time you venture out. As far as fall turkey hunting, there are some VERY good turkey hunters on this forum. Hope one or two will chime in with better advice than I could give you. Best of luck to you! Come back often to check in with us!

It is not a juvenile elephant. It is called a tuskless hunt. Look it up and learn more about how hunts like this benefit the local areas and the herd itself. Not to mention the tuskless cause so much more damage to local crops. Conservation through hunting is not a new concept.

I'm always up for a drag my friend! Call me anytime! Congratulations!!! Seems the hunt is everything you wanted it to be, and more! That old 'dugga boy' looks huge! And the jumbo will fill many empty bellies. Bet wooly would do a beautiful job on the hyena or warthog scull! Great to hear equipment and hunter are holding up nicely too. Keep yourself safe buddy, and good luck for the remainder of the hunt! Check back in with us when ya can.
