Couldn't say it then. He said it on a Monday night game and it got him booted. Now you would be a victim of society and hung out to dry

My Dad has killed a lot of deer with that exact same gun. They don't make them like that any more.

Steuben County sounds the alarm over increase in rabies cases Steuben County health officials are concerned about a huge increase in the number of confirmed cases of rabies this year. Officials are warning the public to avoiding contact with animals after the number of people who needed to start rabies treatment more than doubled compared to the first half of 2017. Rabies investigations in Steuben County between January and July 15 have led to 50 cases of people needing the life-saving treatment PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis). During the same period last year, there were 20 cases reported. “Most of our reports are about undomesticated animals, like bats, raccoons and stray cats,” said county Public Health Director Darlene Smith. “We don’t want to alarm anyone, but we are trying to educate people on the need to not handle wild animals.” https://www.stargazette.com/story/news/local/2018/07/27/steuben-county-sees-sharp-increase-reported-rabies-cases/849107002/

Handgun holsters. Who uses what?
Steve D replied to Bionic's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Among others …. I have been using this one. It is pretty comfortable to wear and really doesn't matter what you wear for a shirt. -
Stop over...I"ve got a ton of stuff that needs done

Including the "catcher" He needs to change his trapping lure for sure!!

I won't shop at Dick's or F&S again. Never liked it in he first place and since their political stance is not in the best interest of gun owners I wouldn't go there if they gave me a stealth cam for walking through the door.

Seeking Rochester NY Area Lease
Steve D replied to DKaiser's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Just My opinion...You can't put a price on being happy & satisfied. Everyone cares about finances but there are somethings in life you are going to spend it on regardless; and for me hunting in one of them. For someone else it could be golf, going to the movies, or collecting beanie babies. You can bet I wouldn't be doing that either or going shopping on "black Friday" but like I said before..to each their own. -
I forgot to get mine and as long as you are going to win I am glad I did. Good Luck

Seeking Rochester NY Area Lease
Steve D replied to DKaiser's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Sounds like you should stop hunting and take up something that doesn't cost money, use up gas, depreciate your vehicle, or waste time. Let me know when you figure that one out and I hope you enjoy it. -
Seeking Rochester NY Area Lease
Steve D replied to DKaiser's topic in Land For Sale, Lease, and Requests
Like I said...to each their own. I would rather have the land and have a place to hunt than think about the "financial" benefits of leasing or owning. The farthest thing from my mind when sitting in my stand is how much it is costing me to sit here and could I find a cheaper, closer, way to hunt. I hunt to hunt and if I have to drive two miles, forty miles, or walk out my back door; it's all the same to me. Although I do like just walking out the back door I still cover a few miles to hunt and love every minute of it. With all the state land available in NY one does not have to own or lease. -
A friend of mine and I teamed up and did the classes together. Who wants to listen to the same person for 6 hours. He brought his stuff, I brought mine, and we did it because we love the sport and wanted to give something back and hopefully put some ethical qualified hunters in the woods. When it got to the point we were driving 40 miles one way, and the state started dictating how many classes they expected us to have a year we decided enough was enough and gave it up. Probably the hardest part was finding a place with a classroom environment to hold the classes. That is one reason so many class are restricted to the amount that can attend. Most gun clubs, archery shops, and gun shops can only hold so many people and as we all know there are less and less of them every year. The state used to put on a dinner for all the instructors once a year and guess what....you had to pay to attend. Another program the state is failing at as far as I am concerned.

They will probably use the 60 footers and bury them 20 feet.

Better yet I would love to hear his bosses. Wait til he gets the bill for that one. How much do they cost? Prices vary, but according to American Timber and Steel a 40-foot treated utility pole ranges from between $400 and $600 depending on its class type. So, a 60-foot pole would typically cost between $1700 to $3000 Plus Labor

I started with my Dad and branched out into other critters to hunt on my own. I did a lot of reading and talking to others but I would say most of it came from experiences and time in the woods.

Almost as crazy as this one yesterday: https://www.wivb.com/news/dump-truck-gets-tangled-in-power-lines-pulls-down-12-utility-poles-in-henrietta/1318545798

when do you start getting serious with trailcams?
Steve D replied to Robhuntandfish's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
For me it isn't the end of the world if I don't have any out but I like seeing what I missed and when I missed it. Nothing like sitting in a tree for three or four hours freezing only to find out later one walked by fifteen minutes after I left or fifteen minutes before I got there .
