Yeah it sucks, especially since the kids got it for me as a Christmas gift. People just have no class, its easy, not yours, leave it alone. This is on private land and whoever it was drove their truck right out onto a field to boot. None of us that are allowed to be there do that, as it just pisses the farmers off. Good luck with getting your daughter her first bird!

I have had alot going on and havent gotten out since I took Haley for youth weekend. I attempted it Saturday and discovered that my ground blind had been stolen, so that kind of took the wind out of my sails and I didnt bother yesterday. Im hoping to get Haley in the woods one more time next weekend, and I dont know if Ill even bother hunting myself this year. I dont really care though, Haley getting her first bird was enough of a successful season to me.

Camping World buys Gander Mountain
WNYBuckHunter replied to WNYBuckHunter's topic in General Chit Chat
I agree. Ganders biggest issue though, is that there is simply noone working the store. I can never find anyone that can answer any questions, or be helpful in any way. My comment about the guy in the gun department was based on the fact that I told him exactly what I wanted, and he ordered the wrong gun anyway. Luckily, it will do the job, but it wasnt exactly what I wanted. I never have issues buying guns anywhere but there. The only reason I go is because sometimes they carry things that I cant easily get elsewhere. -
If you know where the birds are roosting, try to go out a couple of mornings with binos or a spotting scope to scout them from a distance, and see where they are going, and generally how long its taking them to get there. Thats how my daughter ended up with a nice tom in her lap opening day of youth season. I had been watching the birds for a while, found where they were roosting and a general idea of where they were going. The week before youth season, I was watching them almost every day. They seemed to be in one specific field at 7:30 almost every single morning. She killed her gobbler at 7:33 am.

From what I read, basically, they ordered too much product and let it sit on the shelves too long, which cost them too much money, and boom. -

There was a sign on the gun counter Saturday that said all warranties would be honored through the manufacturer. If you previously bought the add on warranty through Gander, it will probably be honored by the "new" Gander, but its still unknown if there will even be one in this area or not. From what Camping World has said, they "hope to keep about 70 stores open". I work for a company that grows by acquiring smaller companies, or companies that are having issues, and we say alot of comforting things during the transition, mostly so the employees dont get upset and rob us blind, then we do what we really want to after we have our reigns on them. Sometimes its what we said we would do, other times we close the stores and hang a sign on the window for the employees to find when they show up to work. It may seem like a crappy thing to have happen, or to do, but its the way it works. -

I went to the Henrietta store Saturday. There were a few good deals here and there, but nothing spectacular yet. I picked up the bug suit I need for my bear trip next spring for $31, which wasnt bad. Grabbed a few fishing lures and a pair of bow hunting gloves. The guns are 10% off right now, Im hoping they go to 20% or more off, then Ill go pick something up. As far as them "marking up prices and then taking the percentage back off", I dont buy that at all. They would have had to go in and basically repackage all of their items, as the retail price is printed right on the packaging materials. From what I have read, some of the stores will reopen after these sales are done. The current sales are being run by a liquidation company, which bought all of the inventory that Gander had at the time. If there is anything left after the drop dead date, it will be taken out of the stores by the liquidation company, and who knows where it will be sold off. Any stores that will stay open, will be restocked with new inventory -

Yes. He was great when I picked the gun up. No issues there. The guy that sold it ordered the wrong gun, told me incorrect info on when it would be in and generally didn't seem to know what he was doing. Plus I was one of 3 customers in the whole place and still waited 30 mins to get any help to begin with. -
Looks like a turkey vulture. Peeing and puking are a couple of its defense tactics.

http://www.outdoorlife.com/camping-world-buys-out-gander-mountain?dom=rss-default&src=syn Looks like they are going to close at least half of the stores. Better use up your gift cards and points while you can. I'm not that surprised. Just bought my daughters turkey gun from there and the experience was let's just say, less than satisfying.

Cell phone boosters are available from your wireless provider, how well it will work is a guessing game though. Hughesnet is a joke really. If you talk to the local cable provider, they might be able to tell you how far from the end of their run you are, and sometimes you can work a deal with them to get connected.

Happened in Kansas from the looks of the article

Little bunny foo foo, but the bunny was popping the heads off of mice or something like that.

I really dont understand these turkey hunting shootings. Its a short yardage game, and the target is relatively small. How is it possible to not clearly identify your target before pulling the trigger? I havent been turkey hunting very seriously for very many years, but theres no mistaking a live turkey, how it acts and moves, for a hunter, even one holding a decoy and crawling along the ground. This guy should be up on reckless endangerment charges and never allowed to own or touch a gun again. Just plain stupidity.

Good luck Dan!

I saw a ton of them in our pond yesterday while doing yard work

Did you say she showed up at the gut pile at milking time? Were you hunting during the summer or something? Do you think does and fawns meet up at specific times at specific places so they can feed? Do you think that a doe can recognize its fawns gut pile? LMAO, you come up with some of the most unknowledgable off the wall nonsense Ive ever read on the internet.
