SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program
WNYBuckHunter replied to Rebel Darling's topic in Deer Hunting
The only thing I was "bumping" here was a reminder that you are a slob hunter, and exactly the kind that GJS and others get so irritated with. As far as religion goes, doesnt the bible say that one should be humble? Your constant boastfulness around here kind of flies in the face of that, dont you think? I feel like Doc hit the nail on the head with his response. My season will be fine, and I will make sure to do my due diligence in practicing each of my weapons at all of the ranges that I feel comfortable with, and I will also be holding off on releasing an arrow or pulling the trigger on any deer that is not giving me an opportunity for an effective kill shot within the range that I have practiced. I dont lob hail marys when I hunt. -
Managing SD Cards for Multiple Cams
WNYBuckHunter replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I try to spend as little time around my cams as possible when checking. In fact, most of them I can drive up to on my ATV and change the card and/or batteries without ever getting off of the ATV. Ive been pretty happily surprised with the increase in the number of mature bucks showing up regularly since I started doing this. Less stink = less spook. -
Ill refrain from the bet. I can make it stop at any point.
-
Oh I agree, probably wouldnt amount to much, but every little bit might help.
-
Its pretty obvious how hes using it.

So you lobbing bullets and bolts at ranges you didnt practice doesnt count toward being a slob? I mean, you have posted quite a few times about doing just that. Oh thats right, your faith in Jesus to guide your bullet or bolt to its intended target makes it non-slobish. Sorry, I forgot. -
SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program

That is quite possibly the dumbest reasoning for letting young deer walk that Ive ever heard. Make sure you dont shoot Thumper or Flower while youre out small game hunting either. Wouldnt want Bambi to be lonely without his friends. -
Mostly I use mine just to get an idea of what bucks are around, and just for the fun of looking at unique pics and videos. I have been able to pattern bucks to some extent, but I only check mine every 2 weeks, so during the season, the information I get from them in that respect is useless much of the time. This year Im going to take the leap to a couple of cellular cams, so my information will be more relevant.

Managing SD Cards for Multiple Cams
WNYBuckHunter replied to Cabin Fever's topic in Trail Camera Pictures
I have a small, watertight plastic jar that I use to carry my SD cards and the keys to my python locks. To keep my SD cards straight, I have each camera labeled with a number. Each camera has 2 SD cards, each card has a label on it for A or B, so for camera 1 theres 1A and 1B, camera 2 has 2A and 2B, so on and so forth. -
Hes looking great this year! I feel like such a slacker, I dont even have my cams out yet this year. Ive usually checked them 2 or 3 times by now lol. Mine will be out starting tomorrow, gotta start keeping tabs on the 5 year old buck Ive been chasing for a few years now. I keep the pics of most mature bucks in my area private until they have been killed, very few see them before that.

Mine shut the engine down. Theres no way to turn the deck off without throwing the engagement lever on those mowers. The lever pulls a cable (like a bicycle brake cable) and that moves the engagement pulley into place on the deck, which in turn tightens the belt and makes the blades spin. The only way to go into reverse with the deck engaged, was to push the reverse safety button while you went into reverse.
-
The reverse safety switch is a small white button on the left lower part of the dash. Fuel is not gravity feed on these, as the tank is lower than the engine. The blade engagement is done with a cable between the tension pulley on the deck and the lever above the steering wheel. Im still betting its the reverse switch.

I have a few this year 1 - Help my daughter get her first deer 2 - Not injure myself and hunt the whole season 3 - Fill the freezer 4 - Get back after the buck Ive been chasing for a few years, Waldo. Hopefully this will be the year he slips up and turns another close encounter into a gut pile and a drag!

I had an L108 until recently. I ran a dead battery that I had to jump start every time for an entire year before one of the cells went bad and I had to replace it. It is absolutely not a battery problem that hes having. The seat switch wouldnt be it either, mine was jumped at one point, it mowed with no issue. This mower does not have an electric clutch either, it has an engagement lever. I would bet that Culver has it right, its probably a bad reverse safety switch.

CENTERPOINT SNIPER 370 CROSSBOW REVIEW
WNYBuckHunter replied to TheFieldArcher's topic in CrossBow Hunting
Just wanted to give you a heads up because the law is dumb. No reason to get your daughters hopes up only to find out that NY laws wont allow it. Personally I feel the same way you do. I actually think that letting a kid start out with a gun would be the best way to do things. Bow hunting, whether its vertical or crossbow, just has many additional aspects to it over gun hunting. I have no idea why NY insists upon dropping them into the most challenging season first. Sorry to derail the post. This post and review actually has my interest peaked in this bow. I may have to see if I can find one to shoot and see how I like it. The price is alot better than the one I have been figuring on getting. -

What do you mean "of age"? You cannot hunt with a crossbow any sooner than you can hunt with a gun. -

What's the most "worthless"
WNYBuckHunter replied to fasteddie's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
I have a Cough Silencer that you are more than welcome to try. It was the most worthless thing Ive ever bought. Hunting or not. -
Just when I thought Id heard it all....
-
I wouldnt bother stuffing with a grinder. I have done it that way before, and you end up with an air pocket down the center of the sausage, which makes the meat dryish when you cook them. If you go to Gander right now, their 5lb vertical stuffers are $49 with 25% off.

It's been a while since we had a Mountain Lion thread

I could understand a random daytime cougar sighting here in Monroe County, they just shut the biggest cougar bar in the area down, so they are wandering around aimlessly looking for new feeding grounds here. -
