Happens alot, and guys wonder why the DMP sucess rate is so low, and DEC has to hand them out like candy.

I travel alot for work, and that is the one place I dont enjoy going. No offense, but its a boring, crappy place to go. I usually travel down to the Greenville SC area while Im down there, and prefer to stay there when I can.
-
You can do that with any truck you feel like destroying

I go to Charlotte for work, and Im not into NASCAR, but I was bored one day and did go to the hall of fame. Not really worth the admission if you ask me. The one place I do go sometimes is to Blackstone shooting supplies, they have a very nice range and plenty of different guns to shoot. Prices are pretty good to shoot as well. Food wise, I havent found all that much thats great, but I dont stay in downtown Charlotte either. Im always staying about 1/2 hr north, near our main office there.

Here is Haleys entry. Written by her. On Saturday, April 22 2017, my Dad and I woke up really early and in the beginning of the hunt, I was very tired and grumpy because at first, I was not really in the mood to go. When we got to the blind I set up the chairs and got comfortable and started to get excited. I was thinking that maybe if I was lucky I could get a nice Jake, but I never thought that I would get the opportunity to harvest a Tom. Shortly after we got settled in we heard some turkeys gobbling off of their roost. As I listened for some gobbles, I began to get very excited. About a half hour after the sun had rose, there were more, but quieter gobbles that we heard. I was getting really pumped and kind of nervous. My Dad and I sat there for a while until the big moment. My Dad lightly tapped my shoulder and said that there was a Tom or a Jake over in the brush across the field. That was when I started to get nervous. We soon saw that the turkey was a Tom and a pretty big one. The Tom went back into the brush and I began to think that he got spooked or something. Until he strutted out of the brush about ten-yards away from where we had first spotted him. As he strutted out, a hen soon followed out of the brush and he was watching her and our decoys (a Jake and a hen). Soon after that, he started to strut out onto the field heading towards our decoys. That was when I began to get really nervous. I was shaking a very nervous about if I would miss him or not. Eventually he came into the area where I could get a good shot and when he was in a good position, I shot him. I will never forgot when I pulled the trigger and a few seconds later seeing my Dad celebrating and repeating “You got him! You got him!”. All in all, this was the first time that I hunted, and harvested an animal and I will never forget it. This was a pretty much perfect hunt and I will never forget my first turkey.

We got out to the blind at about 5:30 and got setup and settled in. We heard the first couple of gobbles around 6 and they kept going for about a half hour and then died down. I did some calling here and there and about 7 we had a big coyote come in to the set. After he left we sat and listened and heard a couple of gobbles coming from both sides of us. Right at 7:30 I saw a fan in the brush about 85 yards away so I got my binos and whispered to Haley "there's a turkey". I saw that it was a good tom and gave a few soft calls and he stepped out at full strut. Haley got the gun up on the shooting stick and we waited. She kept whispering about she couldn't believe how big he was. The tom stepped back in the brush and we lost sight of him behind a big fall down. I gave a few more soft calls and a minute later he stepped back out. Haley was shaking bad at this point and I whispered for her to relax and breathe. Just then a gen stepped out and started angling toward us. The tom caught sight of our decoys and started side stepping and doing circles. I ranged him at 63 yards, he did one more circle, side stepped and then started marching right toward the decoys. I ranged him again at 45 yards, let him take 2 more steps and told Haley to shoot as soon as she had a good shot at his head. He turned right toward us, and Haley waited. He turned to his left and stuck his head out and Haley pulled the trigger. He flopped right down and I said "you got him!" Haley couldn't contain herself and started smiling and crying. She said she couldn't believe she had done it! Hugs, smiles and pictures ensued. I am so proud of her! She did great! It was one of the most perfect hunts I've ever been on. I haven't measured the beard or spurs yet, we will do that after breakfast.

2017 Live from the turkey woods thread

Just pinned this one up. -
At the moment, mine is sitting on a 3" lift in the front and 1 1/2" in the rear, just enough to tuck the 35s. I have a new lift on the way, Zone 6" in the front and 5" in the back with their Nitro shocks. It will be going in next Friday. Im not figuring Ill take any more of a mileage hit with it. I drive it every day for now, but it will be moving to weekend duty soon.

My boss has a 16 Tundra, he gets 9mpg. It is the TRD with 4.30 gears. Im sure the standard 4.10 geared trucks get slightly better than that. Im getting between 13 and 15 with my lifted Dodge on 35s. Not as good as when it was stock, but still acceptable.
-
Sounds like something is wrong with it. My 1500 with the 5.7 pulls like theres no tomorrow. Towed just under 9k lbs from Tampa Florida to WNY with ease, pull our 27ft travel trailer all over the state as well as anything I load up on my flatbed.

I heard the toms behind our house sounding off as usual this morning just as the sun started coming up. Went out to scout the spot we will be sitting tomorrow morning. Two jakes and a hen in the field. Didnt have time to stick around and watch for long, but at least the birds are still there. This weekend should be about perfect for the kids!
-
We got absolutely dumped on last night. Went out scouting turkeys this morning and there were some of the dirt roads on our hill partially washed out. Its gonna be swampy getting into the turkey blind tomorrow morning.

The next GM has some dead weight to unload, thats for sure. How about we send you guys a package deal, you take Bylsma, Tyler Ennis, Matty Moulson, and Josh Georges, and we will take a bucket of pucks in return
-
Bylsma was a ginormous part of the problem, you guys dont want him. Wait, youre in our division....take him, hes great! I was surprised Murray was let go, but their defensive coach was related to him, and I have an idea that Pegula told him to fire him, and Murray refused, so out the door he went.

They canned Their GM and head coach about an hour ago

Salt eats up aluminum as well, it just pits and corrodes. Ever see aluminum wheels after a while in the salt?

I have a 2010 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 in it. It currently has close to 150k on it, and it runs like a top. The only issues I have had that werent typical wear items or that I wasnt at fault for have been the exhaust manifold studs breaking. I did have to rebuild the rear end because I didnt follow the recommended fluid change on it. The thinner synthetic lube used in it needs to be changed every 30 - 40 thousand miles. Other than that, Ive replaced the front bearings at 140k, tie rod ends, and pads/rotors. Ive done a bunch of modifications to it (lift, wheel package, exhaust, sound system, etc) and its been a great truck that has done everything Ive needed it to do.

Or just put a mag lock on a regular AR15 lower and use any stock.grip you want.

SB 4739 - Establishes the yearling buck protection program

The problem is, "great hunting" is subjective. I think the hunting in my neck of the woods is pretty damn great already, and I dont feel like my version of great hunting should take precedence over someone else's
