  1. Good friend of mine oldest daughter (12) is after her first deer. I offered to take them over to my spots in the evening if they were unsuccessful in the morning. They had deer around them, but they got busted. We set up around 3pm this evening. Seen our first deer around 5:30 150yrds out, but something spooked the doe, fawn and spike, and they ran over the rise in the field. 30 min later we had a big doe feed over the rise only 110 yrds out. Following her was her twins, a small spike, and a decent spike. Lila's leg was jumping uncontrollably as they fed closer. Around 90yrds out the wind swirled and they got nervous. Spike turned broadside, and Lila dropped him with a single shot from a .243. The smile on her face is priceless.
  2. I'm hopeful for a post hunt fire tomorrow. For now I'll enjoy yours.
  3. No too busy to post something like this.. it's something Bill would post... No offense Bill.
  4. My nephew's Kayden's first archery kill. It's his 2nd yr bow hunting. Doe fed out into the food plot 10min after he got on stand. 30 yrs shot. Went above 80 yrds. 106lbs. @chef bow look familiar?
  5. Kayden just texted me that he shot a doe. Said it looked good right to left, but might have hit high. Then Dom texts me and said he was drawing back on a spike but it spooked. Going to wait a hr then go look for Kayden's doe.
  6. Yes, 1.5 or older doe. Although, I'm not overly confident they could tell the difference between that and a fawn if it was by itself, unless they saw spots or buttons.
  7. First sit of the yr for me and my two grandnephews. Both boys are looking for their first bow kill, a mature doe or better. Kayden's 2nd bow season and Dom's 1st.
  8. Buddy found a lightly used one this summer. He said it works good. If it looks in good condition and not beat to hell, it sounds like a good deal.
  9. I highly doubt it was the broadheads. So easy to blame our equipment instead of ourselves for a miss. Caulk it up for what it is, a miss.
  10. Bow. Killed way more deer with the bow. Plus it's warmer and during the rut. Older I get the less I like the cold. I do enjoy the couple days leading up to and opening day of rifle. Getting together with friends and going over plans and tactics is a good time.
  11. My brother just told me he was just surfing marketplace.
  12. Looks like a good size bear. I'm sensing a bear mount in your future.
  13. This is the first time in about 7-8 yrs, that I have no youths to take out. Good luck to all those heading out next weekend.
  14. I see your point, but that big guy could walk by anytime.
  15. That's what hunting is all about. Congrats to the successful hunter and your hunting group for helping with the recovery and the high fives.
  16. Well that stinks. Doesn't look to mangled. Is it salvageable?
  17. I'd quit hunting if I shot that. Lol. Good luck. Hope to see a pic of your hands wrapped around his antlers.
  18. I'm so sorry to hear about your mom. Tell you kids stories about her. They will get to know her and how special she was through your and your memories. My mom's favorite season was spring. The following spring turkey season definitely helped me through a difficult time.
  19. I think you already found the boost of confidence.
  20. Yep. Potentially Let non hunting or worse, anti Hunters decided our hunting seasons. Brilliant.
