  1. Glad to hear all ended ok. I teach defensive driving classes and people always say they went off the road because the roads were so bad. I ask them if the roads were so bad how come the other 10,000 people that just drove thru there didnt go off the road ? Speed is usually the biggest issue in losing control and lack of adequate following distance to give yourself enough time to react. But lesson learned for you and no one got hurt, so it all ended ok. Was prob scary though.
  2. I haven't done a lot of yote hunting but it has kept me from a few rabbit hunts. Just too cold. And with weather like this it ends up being 11 hour days at work.
  3. I have been chasing a buck on my lease for two years now. If he was a busted up half rack I would wait. Cause he has been my nemesis and I would feel like i owe it to the chase to take him as a trophy that he is. I can always take a doe for meat. But if he is my number one I want him to be that if/when I get him.
  4. My boy Charlie, he's half beagle and half Australian Shepherd. And he loves to swim? Lol. Wpuldnt think he would be a swimmer with those breeds but he loves it. Wouldn't know what to do without him.
  5. with all the bad weather and post holiday catching up - need something to put a smile on our faces!!!!!
  6. me too! I like to dip them in honey mustard for a treestand snack! yummy . lol kidding ........... yeah they are entertaining esp when they fly into your ground blind . lol One time had 4 of them quabbling over who was gonna perch on my arrow.
  7. I usually like to have a big caliber. Yes any bullett in the right spot will do the trick, its when it isnt in the right spot that you want something serious. I generally hunt with 30-06 or 12 gauge for deer.
  8. love to watch Steven Kings Storm of the century movie when at home and everything is cancelled! lol
  9. it just amazes me how these little tiny animals have enough body heat to survive. Or their feet dont just freeze to something and dropoff. In that kind of cold exposure for us in 20 minutes is frostbite. Yes i know they arent like us but cold is cold and its hard to believe they survive.
  10. It always seemed amazing to me that something as small and frail as a chickadee can survive in this extreme cold. Its not supposed to get above 0 here Friday and Saturday with wind chills up to -30. You'd think they would just drop out of the sky like a snowball - frozen. Did you see in florida they issued a warning to watch for falling lizards? cause the temps are so low they fall out of trees etc. ( oh no its a sign of the apocolypse!! lol) Stay warm and indoors if you can!
  11. People are just clueless. Can put up all the signs and flashing lights in the world and they still don't pay attention. The town I work in just put up double sided chartreuse crosswalk signs and I sat on one side with my hazard lights on and just watched one car after another blow thru the crosswalk while someone tried to get across. I've taught the defensive driving class for over 15 years and the stories and questions sometimes still amaze me. Example......."do I have to stop for a flashing red light?".
  12. unless your trail cams are outside of hooters , theres no damn way I would care whats on them in this weather! lol
  13. if you can afford the $10 ones then you dont need to win - big spender!
  14. If you bought a powerball too TF - the drawing isnt til tonite. So your still in it! good luck! and if i won I would wash my truck in Texas in the winter and never have to worry bout it freezing ! lol
  15. cant imagine being the only one at work that didnt play for a buck. That would be a crusher. It would be a damn lonely place and I would regret it the rest of my life for sure. I play - mostly because just thinking about it is worth a buck or two. Someone will win it, i have just as good a chance as anyone else. If i won would have a big party and invite the people that I am giving money to. Then hand them suitcases with cash and tell them its theirs but spend it wisely cause this will be all. I would be a great millionaire! Def wouldnt live over my means. Other than owning some hunting land and a tractor - not much would change, except more time to do the things i would want to.
  16. When I make my over under 12 gauge/50 Beowulf with a lightsaber bayonet and a .22 derringer hidden in the stock......then we will have a winner!
  17. No one can say she was dull or never had a story. Too bad she isn't around anymore. And whether you like or don't like her posts , then read or don't read them. It's that easy. To shout down another's opinion you don't agree with shows more about you by far. I would hope we all never agree to everything what good is that to anyone. It's too bad this site lost such a major participant.
  18. from another Rob to another Rob -- happy Birthday !!
  19. A spot where I hunt has a tree stand that freaks me out. It's on the far corner of the property on the other side of property but line by one tree. I was told someone fell out of it and died years ago. I stay right away from it. But it is a hanger with the old screw in steps to get up to it. And wow are they far apart. Don't even like going near it.
  20. It sure is extremely cold without big snow banks for protection. My furnace line gelled early this morn and my girlfriend's water froze and neither of us had this problem before with our house houses. It's a huge worry and a PITA for sure. Good luck with it.
