  1. I think it would be great. When rabbit or squirrel hunting I usually bust 3 or 4 large covers of 20 or so. Thought it would be a nice addition to the small game bag. See a lot more of them than partridge for sure.
  2. Is there a lot of people against it? I am asking as I have no idea. Wouldn't think most people would have any idea that some people are trying to have a season on them, or change the designation from a songbird.
  3. Wasn't the holdup before that the dove was listed as a songbird in NY , when most other states it's a gamebird? Maybe they can just change the designation to get started. I know they are hunted in a lot of southern states. There is a lot of them around here for sure. Not sure why it would cost so much money to open a season on them? And I don't see them being stocked, think there is much more of a push for stocking pheasants. If the numbers can support it why not.
  4. Thus the reason you bought the ring! Lol
  5. We used to go up to our camp sometimes in the winter. It was kinda fun. And we brought in all our stuff on sleds. We would flush the toilet with a bucket of water. The most amazing thing was my uncle. His wife had MS real bad, she was paralyzed from the neck down. He would bring her in on a sled cause she wanted to go camping. It was only a couple hundred yards but they used to go. He was amazing.
  6. It should be ok. Would be careful using any water even in the toilet tank. When I bought my house they had it closed up for the winter. Don't think they blew out all the lines completely as I had one busted pipe and the toilet cracked. Right down the side of it so had to replace that before I could even turn the water on. But just the heat itself shouldn't hurt anything I wouldn't think . Good luck with the camping and the yoting.
  7. My dad always made a soup like this. Except he added fresh green beans as well and used smoked sausage sometimes. Love soups. I make a lot of them in the winter. Think I will make this soon myself got one pack of venison sausage from last year saved for it.
  8. Heating it would prob be ok,, but I certainly wouldn't run water without blowing out the lines again.
  9. Ok.........maybe we should start an intervention guys it's pretty early to be this hammered.......
  10. One payment for the bear and one for the hair!
  11. It is. One of my favorite meals is smoked sausage, salt taters, corn, onions and shrimp cooked in it with a mountain dew and some spices. Also like to add in green beans too. Comes out great. Was a big hit at the fishing/hunting trip this year.
  12. Do you have a can cooker? Perfect meal for that.
  13. Got to go with homemade Mac and cheese with little smokies in it.
  14. They would warm up even quicker in some hot oil!
  15. Thinking about getting the 450 Ruger ranch rifle. Anyone out there have one or have any info or thoughts on?
  16. I actually bought my first Remington this last fall. Always wanted one because it's in ny and my uncle worked there. So far so good and this one was an outfit I wanted. Semi auto 12 11-87 with cantilever barrel.
  17. Didn't say it did. But doesn't make sense to me if you have a warmer spot for them in -25 wind chills. Seems like common sense. I'm just not gonna take the chance when it's not necessary. No need to. Glad your kennel works out for them. But because the dog is so used to being in the kennel and wants to go back out, doesn't necessarily mean it's safe for them if it gets too cold. Even kids you have to tell them to come in or not go out if it's too cold. The dogs reasoning might not mean it's the best idea. But not judging here - I just wouldn't leave mine out when I don't have to. Just not taking the chance is all. Just like I wouldn't leave them outside in 100 degree sun if I don't have to. My dog would also like to run in the road but I don't let him. Lol
  18. It has yet to get above 0. Was -4 when I got up and -1 right now. And the wind off the lake will keep me inside for sure.
  19. Dunno if they can but I don't need to find out. My dog is my buddy, I'm not leaving him outside in this cold. Why would you?
  20. Good thinking on his part! The wife can't say no to a gift like that!
  21. I used to work for the NYSDOT. And they have to do logs for each sanding and plowing run. That was to show several things .....the use of material - salt and sand, miles etc. But it was also to show that the state or township was taking care of the roads so they weren't sued for negligence in a severe accident. As with anything else, people will sue the state for not taking care of the roads but it's not their fault because they were going too fast for the road conditions.
  22. Glad to hear all ended ok. I teach defensive driving classes and people always say they went off the road because the roads were so bad. I ask them if the roads were so bad how come the other 10,000 people that just drove thru there didnt go off the road ? Speed is usually the biggest issue in losing control and lack of adequate following distance to give yourself enough time to react. But lesson learned for you and no one got hurt, so it all ended ok. Was prob scary though.
  23. I haven't done a lot of yote hunting but it has kept me from a few rabbit hunts. Just too cold. And with weather like this it ends up being 11 hour days at work.
