Doc
Pretty ugly video. It's a shame that some kids can act this way. I do believe it is a "mob mentality" thing. And I suspect that it probably is not the kind of thing that a majority (or even very many) of today's kids would find themselves involved in. But I do find it troubling that we have created a system where there seems to be so little that anyone can do about these things when they do occur. I see this kind of mentality as being a sign of troubled kids that will probably grow into troubled adults. These are the same kinds of kids that get their jollies by torturing pets, etc. (usually a pre-cursor to more advanced violent anti-social behavior).
mike rossi
Someone setup a donation for the poor lady and so far they've raised over $35,000. Now I wish some kids can insult me. Where can we send donations? Be nice if hunters or this forum could send something as a group. Lets send her money and show these rats behinds and their spawn how we band together... Culvercreek hunt club
not as much the parents fault. Times are changing, my wife believes there is no need to hit your child as a form of disiplin. And there is the problem with the whole situation. it is 100% the parents fault. period. no discussion. any view other than this is an excuse. Woodsman20
This is an ugly incident looking at it from every perspective. I think everyone has some valid points and issues or fault can always be found looking backwards from the kids, to the monitor, to the bus driver,to the school, the parents, you can even bring the economy into the discussion. The reality is what is done is done so how can the folks directly involved as well as those that are following take away something meaniingful to apply going forward. Even though there is disgust and frustration and that wants to be directed at many of the people involved it would make sense to focus on what would be in our control going forward. I think Rochestergirl's response seemed to make the most sense: "If I was the parent, I would make my kid publicly apologize AFTER I sign them up for the summer to work with elders and learn how to respect them. Maybe after they hear and bond with those elderly folks, they will learn to respect them. They need not say they are sorry, but actually be sorry." I think there is a lot of merit in that form of discipline in this situation. It is always good to try and walk in another's shoes prior to condemning them - a lesson I have had to learn and continue to. I am usually not big on quotes but "Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or lose" - Lyndon B. Johnson I wish my 401K was growing at the rate of the monitor's donations.
Culvercreek hunt club
I think Rochestergirl has a great idea for a punishmnet. He is the problem with it though. It assumes that the parents would implement something like that. The parents that spawned and raised the little trolls would not give two hoots about something that would better their kids or teach them the lesson. If they did they would have already been taught that and we wouldn't be having this conversation. Society is also at fault and it plays right in to the mob mentality that was mentioned. As a society we have removed any consequences. Many kids have none and those kids become the catalyst for these events. Good kids with strong values will not get pulled into an event like this but the kids on the bubble are the ones that can easily be swayed. We have gotten weak and this hand holding, Dr. Spock mentality that has been shoved down our throats must go if it is ever going to get better. We are raising generations who's only focus is themselves and don't understand the consequences of their actions.
WNYBuckHunter
Sad to say but these kids are the by product of what we have produced. A whole generation of heartless, cold blooded cut your throat then go out for pizza generation that cares about nobody and not even themselves. I hate to say this but it all started a few decades ago with moms having to work, and i will bet you any one of those kids comes from a broken family, divorced parents maybe even more than once! and a good percentage have probably even witnessed some type of abuse because their parents were the first generation of what i just discribed. All this BS the psychology industry pumped on us years ago about, ohhh kids are tough they come thru a divorce very well and have a great way of bouncing back, remember that folks... I disagree with this having to do with moms going to work. The culprit here is all of the bleeding heart bullsh*t that has taken an adult's ability to properly discipline kids away from them. Many kids today know they are almost untouchable, and therefore respect noone. The schools and legal system are at fault for it. They teach little Johnny and Jane that they can and should CPS if their parents even threaten to spank them. I remember when I was a kid, they started teaching that crap, I believe it was in 5th or 6th grade maybe. I came home that day and told my father that he could not spank me any longer and that I would call CPS on him. He asked if I wanted him to dial the phone for me, and then whooped my butt. I deserved it, and never made that threat again. I am raising my kids similar to how my parents raised me, and Ill bet they have a ton more respect for others than the little pukes in those videos. If I ever found out they did something like that, school punishment would be the least of their worries....

Cabin Fever
The local station, 13WHAM, said on the 12:00 update that there will be a news conference with the school district reps at aired at 1:00. I hope they make their punishments known then! Whatever it is, I hope the parents make it MUCH MUCH worse at home!
ELMER J. FUDD
True story: My name is John. One day the whole bus sang "John John leprechaun" on the way to school. I went up to the front of the bus and sat next to the driver. I got off first and punched every single kid that sang that song and got off that bus in the arm. There was no singing after that. WNYBuckHunter
I had the same issue Elmer. I had one kid (2 years older than me) that used to push my head into the window every day when he got on the bus. One day I got fed up and took my metal Dukes of Hazzard lunch pail and smashed him in the face with it, caving the whole side in and knocked him out cold in the process. He never laid another hand on me again.

Culvercreek hunt club
They will get "the maximum allowed" by the school. SO anything over 5 day suspension has to go to hearing and then it is ruled on and punishment decided in the limits by NY education law. Does anyone know for sure what the maximums are? Sounds like about one step above someone taking the xbox away for a week. Edited June 21, 2012 by Culvercreek hunt club
fasteddie
I doubt that this was the 1st time these little piss ants acted up . What does a monitor do ? Did she ever make any type report before and if so what did the school do ? There is a lot of unknown facts !
growalot
There ya go...sweep sweep sweep...I'm I wrong...do I need new glasses because 13 or not when that one student laid hands on her it went from harassment to assault...period!!...and that is state law...Now as I stated before she was ill equiped to do the job....admitted she should have acted..."spoke up" and they are still treating it as a one time deal....Now this is going to set things up for all the other monitors out there to take the same grap......by the way suspensions over a certain # of days...the school distrinct is required to provide in home tutoring as to not " impede the right of a student to the mandated state education...want to guess who's paying for that? SHAME SHAME SHAME on them all It is not assault it is harassment and harassment is only a violation, not a crime, and at 13 they are not legally responcibal for a violation. To raise to assault in the 3rd degree there must be a documentable injury. Check NYS penal law section 120.00 for the definition of assault. and the harassment section is 240.26 The cops can't do anything. The school can though. I had a kid that would always mess with me while I was fishing as a kid at the local pond. He would come over and throw my stuff around and make fun of me till I got pissed one day and dropped kicked him into the pond and then tossed his friend in right behind him when he came to his aid. They ran home crying like little bi---hes and never messed with me again.

growalot
I stand corrected but it is still a class B misdemeanor and should be dealt with in the courts if for no other reason to scare them and their parents.....sure they "gave" her the choice...would have liked to been a fly on that wall.....All the Officials wan for the schools and town..... is to make this go away as soon as possible...and putting that decision in her lap is the politically best way to do that ...I'm sure they ...talked at her in a very persuasive way ...to make that happen....The entire incident is disgusting and I'm not just talking about what the kids did Edited June 22, 2012 by growalot
