Well opening day has come and gone. I had a 14 yd shot at a spike this morning which i passed on. This afternoon i had 2 4 pts and 4 doe with fawns come within range but no shots presented. Got it all on video too. Had a 23 yd shot at a nice sized doe but there was a friggin branch right in my view when i stood up. I was pissed at myself for not clearing that branch yesterday. My bro saw nothing except for a bobcat in the woods. I saw lots of action and even some chasing believe it or not. One more chance tomorrow morning.

Lousy morning. I got skunked.....literally had a skunk walk by me.

This afternoon was great though. 2 doe, 3 button bucks, small 6, big 6 (no brows), and 2 real nice 8's that need another year. Could have shot 7 of the 9 under 30 yards. Fun day. Can't wait til tomorrow! (Still holding out for the big 11 I posted the trail camera pics of).

Posted this in the local Long Island forum but wanted to post on the official harvest thread as well....Was out on public land today. At 7am I saw the biggest buck I have ever seen in my young hunting career. This thing was massive but it was on the run and had no chance at it. At 10:30am a nice doe came by and now I have plenty of meat for my freezer which I am so so so happy about. Was my 2nd deer ever with a bow and my first doe with a bow. Best of luck to everyone!

The new bow has officially been broken in!!! This doe came out with two buttonbucks at very last light and I sent a Rocket Steelhead through her lungs @ 20yds. I had 5 bucks feeding out in the adjacent cornfield that was just chopped a few days ago. One was a 3.5 year old 8-pt that is definately on the hit-list. Think I'm gonna take the morning off from hunting to hang a stand where all of the bucks came out tonight...

So this afternoon I saw 12 doe. The only one that wasnt running or trotting was the one I took. We figure her for @ 2 1/2, as she had milk. She came in broadside at 20 yards, and I zipped it her right through both shoulders. The arrow then stuck @ 8 inches into the dirt. Broadhead just needs a once over and Ill use it again. I love these Montecs!

This is the same arrow I took my buck with last year! Hopefully I can get nother one with it this year!

Shes already quartered up and in the fridge waiting for me to cut her up this week. This is the first time I have put one down on any opening day!

Hey Everyone! This is Louis Backlas/ Cross Over the River Outdoors. I just posted a new video to my YouTube channel that I though ya'll might get a kick out of! Have you ever used a decoy to hunt whitetails? If you haven't before you might want to start! I woke up one morning and look out my front window only  to find that my 3D deer target was in pieces all over the front lawn! A fired up buck decided to take his frustrations out on the target!  this took place sometime in November during the peek of the rut. Hope ya'll get a kick out of it!

      Hey All,
New to the forum, already missing the deer season and have curiosity to quell. This was a great non-typical I was chasing all season in a bow-only area of Ithaca. Anyone know or hear of a non-typical of this caliber being killed? I'll be out scouting for him aggressively soon enough. Thanks!

Hello folks. I'm a novice hunter from almost Central NY. I live amongst the cow fields about 20 minutes south of the ADK park. I'm here hoping that I can learn from those who know more than I do. That's probably most of you. LOL. This is my second season and so far I still have all of my tags. I have a rifle but I'm not comfortable shooting it in the area I hunt due to people being near. I'm hoping to fill at least one of my tags before Dec 19.
