My lil mans first tree stand sit

He enjoyed it, and we saw some wildlife, squirells, stray cats, a few deer. He had alot of fun, and I know its a illegal, i let him hit the call a few times. It was fun. He was a good boy.

to let a "sitter" or child sitting with you to use a call.(Actually, its fine to have a youth sit with you but cant assist in the hunt at all which incudes driving or calling) But a lil 4 year old seeing a spiker, wanting to call? cant resist. It was fun, and thats all that matters. All day he was ready to go. even had his bb gun ready. (at 6am this mornng)

I can see not letting a 4 year old walk aimlessly through the woods on a "drive", but hitting a call for ya, I think even DEC would give you a pass LOL. How else are they going to learn!

Ive been doing that with my 8 year old since he was 4 and now he is so adicted! Congrats for making him part of your hunt!

You will never hear a word from anyone for letting your child blow a call. I think NYS is one of the worst states in the nation when it comes to youth hunting.

I used to bring my son when he was young also.he is now 18 and well be out there next weekend together,enjoy it while he is young brother they grow up so fast........

Always nice to see the youngsters get out. There was times when I had myself and all three of my kids with me in the 90's. We always had a ball, and they learned patience, nature, and respect for wildlife. A good thing to remember is that kids are usually only able to take two or three hours without getting bored or antsy, and that is if they are seeing game. It was always worth it for me, and i remember it fondly even if we don't get out together much anymore.

I took my Daughter out last yr for one hunt. We never saw any deer but she couldnt beleive how birds and squills just walked right up to us. It was a good time.

I could picture my lil cuz shooting a magazine cover saying "BUCK...BUCK" lol..Thats great.
