Lawdwaz
Anybody used them, and if so: Do they collect NYS sale tax? How much did it cost for mount & balance at your local establishment? Thanks...................
NY Indy
Law, I have used them several times....Don't remember if I paid tax or not, but site should tell you that. If they are located in or ship from NY state, then there will be tax. Any decent garage will mount and balance for reasonable amount.....Obviously do the math to see if what your saving is worth it...if savings isn't great, I would buy local. Jeremy K
I have used them a few times , i also can't remember if i paid tax . I just put tires on my S10 from there and i believe i paid 60 bucks for the dismount ,remount and balance and tire disposal from a local shop. So far ,never a problem with them and they ship fast too.

I added all my information right up to the credit card price and it still didn't have any sales tax added?? I'm still waiting on a price from a good friend who works at a Ford dealership and can get me his quarterly family tire discount. You never know on these things..........!! I have checked Discount Tire, Tire Rack, Sam's Club and WalMart.com. They all make it difficult to compare apples/apples. TR has a great price on Kumho RV AT KL 78's in 245 75 16. I'm sure I can get a local yokel to mount them. Hell I haven't mounted a tire in almost 30 years but I'm sure I could do it and maybe even enjoy it!! shawnhu
The fuel bill would kill me......................... He never offered.... Tire rack.com didn't charge me tax when I ordered from them years ago. If you have a Costco membership, their lifetime deal in tires is not too shabby. fasteddie
I think it was Tire Rack that I bought my tires from for my Subaru . They were Hancooks and had a great Consumer Reports rating . I don't think they charged tax . It cost me almost $80 to tave them mounted and balanced .

Red
My mechanic charges 10 per tire mounted and balanced. It just moved his shop out if buffalo last month and reopened up just outside of holland ny
Cabin Fever
Never bought from them, but they're the first place I go to to read tire reviews, before purchasing. I buy locally, because I can get them rotated for FREE. That saves me $25-$30 every 5-6k miles. I put a lot of miles on my vehicels. Gotta take that into consideration too... Paula
I bought my tires from dennis kirk for the motorcycle. Over 99 was free shipping no tax but was a $5 handle fee. great prices
phade
Tire Rack's shipping can be slightly expensive but I've used them a lot. No tax as they ship from out of state.
bluecoupe
A lot of guys on the Corvette Forum use TireRack and are happy with them. http://tirecrawler.com/ is also used with good results.
HectorBuckBuster
If you have a Walmart near by get them mounted there.I believe the last time I had them mount tires it was only $10 per tire and they keep the old tires.
Red
Tread city tire usually has good prices and they will come to your house work anywhere and mount and balance them on the spot for free and take the old tires
Culvercreek hunt club
I have got the last two sets from Tirerack. They worked out cheaper than local. All said and done I think it was around $100 savings for my truck tires after I paid to have them mounted.
Adkhunter1590
Don't mount them yourself. And deff don't have walmart do anything on your vehicles. Those guys are jokes. You need someone who knows what they are doing to properly balance them or your gonna end up with a crappy ride. I prefer to buy local. Repeat business ends up getting you bigger discounts later on. That and idk how it is around you but a lot of shops around here either quadruple the mount/balance price or just flat out won't do it if you buy the tires someplace else
fasteddie
You need the tires balanced properly . It's no longer a simple job to mount them as each tire has to be programmed correctly as the computer keeps track of each tire pressure and if that isn't done correctly the system will be telling you the wrong tire . It's no longer a simple deal of slapping on some tires and adding some weight for balance . The garage told me that the price had gone up because they can no longer use lead weights . WTH ! landtracdeerhunter
Shipping is a killer, something like $20 bucks a tire. I install my own as I been doing it on tractors and combines for 30 years. If I can handle a a 30.5L x 32, I certainly can install a 16" car tire, LOL. Never considered that but I have noticed the size of the weights seem bigger than they use to.
Adkhunter1590
Ya they can't use lead anymore. You'd be surprised how far out of balance a wheel can be even with a brand new tire. With the new tpms systems it's even more of a pain in the ass
