HuntOrBeHunted
I would think any kind of pass threw would kill the deer. It's just a matter of finding it before the yotes. Good luck, let us know of any progress.
DeerDuck
Where are you hunting? Swampy area ? Coyotes? Smell the arrow , look at the blood. If you're not sure, back out and wait till the morning. If you're on the Island, let me know.
Geno C
or clipped one of those "fingers" that stick up off the spine....that'll drop them on the spot, but they'll recover quickly and take off.I called them both out in post 14. Seems likely it could.be either...
grampy
Not really enough info here to make a good guess. But AWAYS, when in doubt just back out. I was a deer search tracker for a few years, and have seen a lot of blood trails. Best advice I can give, unless you now have found good blood is to back out and go in at first light. Check the hit sight for hair. What color is it? Then try to pick up where you lost the blood trail. Blood will show much better during daylight. Some good advise already given in previous posts. Good luck to you.
Taylormike
Ok. Like some have said not really enough information. Congrats on the hit now focus on recovery. When you say "found another drop", that sounding a bit ominous. Go back to impact spot, START OVER Check for hair, blood anything. Take it slow. BowWeldingJohn
Alright, I decied to call it a night. I'll pick up the search in the morning. Heres the story, I was hunting some hardwoods near a field And I spotted the doe 125 yards behind me heading my way. It took her about 25 minutes for her to get to me I drew she stopped I let the arrow loose. She dropped right away, copule seconds later she stood up and walk away she then fell again I beileve this is when the arrow broke I could see the arrow did not go all the way threw. She got up again walked away then I lost sight. I waited about a 45 minutes then went after her by then it was dark there was a good amount of blood at the Impact spot. I was able to follow the blood trail for about 65 yards. Then it stopped I found another blood drop. I will upload a picture of the impact spot in a minute.. Woodjr55
Is that the biggest blood spot you have found. How long have you been tracking. I wouldn't pursue beyond 50-75 yards with that amount of blood IMO Edited October 28, 2014 by Woodjr55
NFA-ADK
Good luck, I hope she is not too far sounds like you should recover.
BowWeldingJohn
Yes that Is the biggest blood spot however their is alot of other blood spots in the area.
crappyice
Idk...while it appears like "a lot of blood" I don't think its enough to show a great hit. Keep at it- look forward to seeing the pic of your deer tomorrow ...good luck
HuntOrBeHunted
Oh and I forgot to mention about 6 inchs of the arrow broke off. I can't wrap my head around how the arrow would brake? Maybe when the deer fell? If your sure you bow is shooting good and you feel like you got anything to do with a decent hit the deer has to be down. PREDATE
Oh she's down alright! I'd be willing to bet that she's didn't go far. If that arrow penetrated 11" then the broadhead is in her opposite shoulder and would be grinding with every step. Be careful gutting her Edited October 28, 2014 by PREDATE
First-light
Maybe one of those "spinal shock" shots. Will knock the deer down for a bit then it will get up wobbling away. If he hit high in the shoulder this is possible. Where the deer falls will always leave a decent amount of blood. GL
