Deer drag rope

Going to make one this weekend with a dowel and some rope, anyone else have ideas for a home made drag rope. Hoping I'll test it out on 10/21 !!!

That will make the drag a bit easier!  Also tie the front forelegs up around the ears to streamline em a bit more.  Every little bit helps!  Best of luck to ya on the 21st.

I took a big piece of our old golf dome. Ran 3 grommets down the side and 2 through the top to run drag rope through and attatch to head as normal. Cinch 3 down the sides. Cut friction 50% or so. This material is heavy duty but I'm sure you could find something similar

Simply you want, simple you get......

I use an 11-12 foot piece of parachute cord, tieing the two ends together.  Now you just have a hunk of cord tied into a big circle.  

Niw you go and kill a monster buck, right?  Yank that little engineering marvel out if your pocket and loop it anyway you want around that BAB’s neck. Wanna tie the front legs up through the big rack, have at it. I don’t.....

Now, Just search around the area and pick up a little piece of a sapling, branch etc that you can twist into the cord, rather close to the BAB’s Head.  

Start dragging......

I use the suspension relief straps that come with harnesses / stands .

Relief strap as well. don't need to drag far with a sidexside though

I use a thick soft rope i bought from home depot to make stringers and for hanging deer. I usually pick up a stick in the woods instead of having one just for it.

I no longer use a drag rope . I switched to a sled long ago . Much easier . Sled is 66" long

If you are going to walking in the woods and don't want to carry extra weight don't put the stick on there.  There are alot of sticks in the woods that you can use! If you can afford it get 1" 1.5" parachute webbing it works great super strong and doesn't cut into your hands like rope!

I have a small drag rope and do the same with finding a piece of wood to drag.  I once used a hip bone from a deer instead of the wood, both worked good.  The sled sounds real good for drags over a mile!

I used 1/2 schedule 40 I had lying around in shed and some rope from an old kids winter sled. Just need a set of horns to wrap the rope around . Come on 10/21

Definitely use paracord. When we used bikes to get into public land it wasn't too bulky to keep deer on bike either. Makes quick work when you coast out down hill in some spots. Had trail system though. One drag miles out through a big swamp we used paracord and then tied multiple loops with one at the end. Multiple guys like sled dogs got my buck out in a hurry.
