erussell
As the weather warms up and everyone gets out to enjoy some shooting, please be sure to be safe. Unlike this dude who took one to the back of the head by a friend not paying attention and yes it was a broadhead to.
virgil
Holy geez. Any idea if the guy was OK? Remember that footage years ago of the guy that was hit with a javelin? Yikes.

132 eight pointer
He should not have volunteered to have an apple on his head. How could an arrow be on that straight of an angle,on center, by "accident" ?

MuzzyLoader
Bowhunters need to see photos like this every once in awhile to keep safety paramount in their thoughts whenever practicing or hunting. Another safety 1st item... keep your broadheads covered if you're driving with your bow hung in a gun-rack on your rear window! I lost a friend years ago because he didn't do that (slid off the road, rolled his truck - died from arrows stuck in his back). Can you imagine being wacked in the head [brain] with a broadhead... and sitting there talking with the EMT? If everything turned out okay, he sure has a story to tell his grandchildren someday. The arrow in the picture is entering from the back? I guess it's just a reference picture. Wow an initiation to a rafting club. Dumb asses. fasteddie
Here is another See the pics here:http://picasaweb.google.com/CO.Elkaholic/ManShotInHeadByArrow > Anybody know anything about this? All I got was the pics via e-mail. > I'm curious what the story behind it is. > Elkaholic Here is the story that I found on www.askjeeves.com. I entered ( Man shot in the back of the head with an arrow ) and it brought up several articles, Although it does not cooberate the post that the person has seen this posted on his pc 15 years ago(1992) ? Not really to sure what to beleive, One could probably research the ap press as noted in the article to find out more. Below is another example of the rules not being observed - hunting archery calls for even more diligence than target archery by its very nature. Errant arrow pierces man's head Associated Press -- Oct. 14, 2001 BURLINGTON, Vermont -- An Underhill man shot in the back of the head with an arrow while bow hunting is recovering slowly, according to his family members. Ron Derouchie, 24, was recovering at home Friday, Oct. 12, after his brother, Brian, 22, fired an arrow into the back of his head. The arrow penetrated Ron Derouchie's skull and pierced his brain, stepmother Wendy Derouchie said. The family is worried about whether the arrow caused lasting vision damage. Ron Derouchie is having trouble sleeping and not feeling well, but his outlook is good, she said. "He has a lot of headaches," Wendy Derouchie said. "He gets really tired." The brothers were hunting deer at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Underhill when the incident occurred, said Lt. Robert Rooks, acting chief of law enforcement for the Fish and Wildlife Department. Police are treating the incident as accidental. When Ron Derouchie shot, he bumped his brother, who had drawn his arrow back and was preparing to release it, Rooks said. The bump caused Brian Derouchie to swivel as he was shooting, and the arrow hit Ron Derouchie in the back of his head, Rooks said. The fact that the brothers were standing close together prevented the accident from being worse, Rooks said. "The arrow wasn't able to gain the momentum that it would, had it actually been released," he said. Ron Derouchie remained conscious and walked from the woods with his brother, who was shaken by the incident, Wendy Derouchie said. "As they came out of the woods, Ron was calming Brian down," she said. Surgeons spent three hours removing the arrow.

First-light
Wow gross picture of the skull, so what do you think about this? You and your buddy are walking in the woods bow hunting. A deer comes by so your buddy who was ahead of you (arms length) kneels down. You draw your bow for the shot- Is it possible for the arrow to come off the rest and redirect at your buddy and hit him? Culvercreek hunt club
I thought I remember reading it was a target shooting accident. The brother fingered his releas during the draw and hit this brother. They were saying that is why it only penetrated that deep because not at full energy. Stupid accident however it happened. Fantail
There will always be some clown who thinks saftey is a luxury and short change it. And then there are plain accidents. The guy in the pic - well all I can say is if that's not photoshoped then he's lucky to be alive. When I was in the local FD rescue I can remember seeing some nasty & mangled things. One common thing was a head-on or t-bone where the passenger not wearing a seatbelt, who's head hits the windshield. It would typicaly expand & crack just enough grabbing hair and some scalp ripping it away as the victim slams back into the seat. Head trauma victims typicaly get nausious, so you got blood, skin and vomit on your gear now. Then there was burn victims. Or the brave drunk driver who hits a tree at 90 and kills himself and the passenger, who's thrown from the vehicle and their guts are in someones front yard. We shoot and gut things, some of us shoot ground hogs with a bullet that hits it's head at 3700 fps and look at the end result and think - awsome. So I guess I don't see what makes that pic so upsetting or gross. having said that i can remember when my kids were little and one would get a bloody nose or cut. When I saw my own kids blood that was kinda freaky.

gundeck
Anyone seen the "arrow roulette" in the movie Grown Ups? How many times do you think this happens (the game, not the arrow in the head) a year? Sometimes people just don't think.
