DirtTime
Well, it's late, but we are getting our honeymoon. Heading out in the morning to Mystic CT. Going to hit the Tree House for some oysters, the aquarium, the star gazing thing in RI, and just get away for a few days. The wife planned this all out, so I guess I will see where this adventure takes us. I know there will be plenty of great food, trying some local beers, and just enjoying ourselves.
philoshop
There was movie about Mystic. Something about pizza maybe? It was really stupid but also kinda cute and funny. Have a good time!
nyslowhand
Somehow I don't think Julia Roberts is still working at the Mystic Pizza since 1988.
philoshop
Like I said, it was kinda cute and funny back in the day. I wouldn't watch it again.

Steuben Jerry
We went to Mystic a few years ago. Spent some time at the Mystic Seaport and shipbuilding village and enjoyed the visit. If you're into the historical or nautical stuff, this is a can't miss place to spend a few hours. https://www.mysticseaport.org/
grampy
Right next to the aquarium there is a little village of shops. Nice place to walk and browse. Oh... and the ducks in there are pretty cool too! Just up from that is a steakhouse that is very good, sorry forgot the name. Mystic pizza is a great place to have a meal as well. They have more than pizza, and prices are reasonable. Right in town, near the draw bridge, there is a little park right on the water, to just sit back and relax. Very peaceful there. Some nice shops in town too, that the Mrs. may like to walk through. Mine does! Mystic is a cool place. Been there a number of times. Have fun!
wolc123
If you head to the Seaport, be sure you get the tour of that whaling ship. I remember it being relatively inexpensive and very informative. I was there about 20 years ago. Ever since, I have been wanting to try one of those "Nantucket sleigh-rides". The closest I ever came to that was having a 21" small-mouth bass drag my canoe around Cuba lake for a little bit. I can only imagine how getting a harpoon into a big humpback and wrapping the line around the loggerhead would make for quite the boat ride. The USS Nauteless Museum, just a few miles to the north, was free back then and also pretty interesting.

DirtTime
We hit the aquarium, then Old Mystic Village, grabbed a snack and beer sampler at Jealous Monk, then downtown Mystic for the art gallery, then the Treehouse so I could have me some fresh oysters. Stopped by the local packy for room beer.Having a good time.Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
DirtTime
The duck pic is out of order, that's the village grampy referred to. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
jmark
Been there many times, almost bought a house there on the inner harbor. Agree that the Seaport Museum is a must. Best thing to see in Mystic, spend at least half a day. There's a great outdoor lobster place in Noank, just a few minutes away (called Abbot's I think). Stonington is worth a visit if you have a car and some time. Beautiful old harbor town (but torn apart by "politics" in recent years - I used to keep a sailboat there, crazy local scene). Oh, there's also an AMAZING restaurant in Mystic, around the corner toward Noank, called the Oyster Club. If I was in Mystic for only one night this is what i would do! Anyway, congrats and enjoy! There are also 2 oyster club's.Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk Yes, the Treehouse is part of the Oyster Club restaurant. I think there's only one Oyster Club. S&P Oyster is a totally different kind of place, more like your typical seafood restaurant. Quite nice, though, with nice views.

And the great eats you’ve had you were upset over no Italian sub. I’d take that sacrifice . Looks like the two of you enjoying a nice trip. Congrats to you and the Mrs

Looks like the two of you enjoying a nice trip. Congrats to you and the Mrs I wasn't upset about the sub, I had a good laugh about it. You don't see the humor that 15 pizza joints only have ham and turkey cold sandwiches but the Mexican place did? The reason for the subs was to have half last night, and the rest at the beach in RI. Ended up forgetting them anyway. LOL. Been a great trip, but looking forward to going home to my pup tomorrow.Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
