Bionic
Do any of you use these things? i understand that you should hunt the correct wind accordingly, etc. However, I feel like no matter how much I wash my hunting clothes in scent free soap, and air them outside...they just always have some distinct scent to them. I hunt areas that are like mini big woods if that makes sense, and I wonder if scent control is something I need to further improve on since people are not too too common.... Honestly, I have tried the fluffy stuff you let flow down wind, and puffers, but it just seems as though the wind is always changing, and spiraling...I am obviously no pro, so I need input, something has to change, unashamed to say I am a bit overwhelmed with it. My boss uses a scent eliminating plug in the wall type bag, he is a believer in scent control, and playing the wind accordingly, he does harvest big bucks each year, and believes in these bags. anyone uses these bags? Are they BS in your opinion? thanks all

It works for scent elimination but also kills elastic quickly.

Ruined some stuff in a year (perhaps I over did it). That said, I still believe deer will smell your human odor. You can’t stop that.
Robhuntandfish
I use one. I generally use it in between the am and pm hunt. I think it certainly helps some. Hard to know for sure of course. But between scent free wash, hanging clothes in an outside shed and using scent bag I don't seem to get winded often. Me and a buddy hunt the same lease and I generally see a lot more deer than he does. For all the expense of hunting and equipment one of the ozone bags isn't that much. I have the scent crusher ozone bag. I haven't had too many issues with the elastic. One pair of long underwear the waist band got messed up after a full season. The rest was fine. I don't run my boots in it though. Edited October 22, 2019 by Robhuntandfish

I don't have a covered porch, or garage yet, do have a clean dehumidified basement without must, but feel thats no good to hang the clothes in. I just layer up, and use under armour base layers, with $99 insulated coveralls. I don’t want to destroy the clothes, but if these ozone bags can help here, and there, while storing in an unscented clear plastic bag, I wonder if it will benefit me. Honestly this is the first year of me hanging them in garage.typically they would be inside a closet at grandmothers house as i didnt have storage for em.IMO i agree with moog on them smelling the human odor.ofcourse it could be minimized with a bag of such one would think?ha

See my boss says the same, always have some scent, cannot eliminate completely....however, his opinion is if you can eliminate scent enough, maybe you can get that smart old buck within shooting distance, or within your eye sight.....where as maybe you might get him to smell you without you ever realizing he was there. Hope I explained that correctly. I value his opinion like you guys, thats why I am mentioning him

Team Hoyt
I use ozonics. I've got the closet then I've got a weather proof tote and a small ozone generator in that. This is my 1st year trying it. What I do is use scent free detergent then dry them with scent free drier sheets, after that I place in my ozonics closet for half hr, once that is up I place in my tote. I then will use my tote generator during my drive to my spot. I change outside. The deer I've seen this year have not got spooked at all and have had them at 10 yards. Does it work... I dont know, but it cant hurt
grampy
I have no experience with any ozone products. But I predominantly hunt from the ground, and kill my fair share of deer. So here's my take...... Like moog said, there is nothing you can buy, use or do, to become scent free enough to where a deer can not smell you! Nothing! That said, I do wash my hunting clothes in scent free detergent. They are always stored in a plastic tote. I have many of them. I wash my body and hair in scent free soap, and use scentfree deodorant. I also chew gum while on stand. Maybe it cuts down on breath odors? IDK? But I always pay attention to the wind and thermals, trying my best to use them in my favor. I will move if the wind isn't right. But deer don't always follow the plan, they can and do come from drown wind!! I've had them come from dead down wind and never even stop or become alert. Other times I heard them blow before I even saw them. And no doubt, many just turned and went the other way without me knowing it. That's hunting!! You can't cover 360 degrees. No matter what, some deer will scent you. Set up is more important than scent control. In my humble opinion. The old guys I learned from, smelled like old billy goats, and killed a lot of deer! They also knew the best places to sit. Oh.....I can't count how many times I've had to put down a smoke, before killing a deer from the ground. And yup....some were even down wind.

Fine, but I am asking for advice from others to see if I am on the right track basically. Those who do use these scent bags are those who I have already looked up to for their hunting harvests. I am in an AR zone, with no doe tags so I am not looking for any deer to shoot. If thats a stupid question, then so be it, because thats how I am taking it from your comic pic. Every situation is different.... Edited October 22, 2019 by Bionic

Are they BS in your opinion? thanks all Hey Bionic, I get Cabelas gift cards for every occasion so I have made some purchases that I probably wouldn't spend my own money on. I have a scent crusher tote (it is much larger than the bag) and I also have a ozonics. I believe they both help but are not fool proof. The scent crusher tote absolutely removes odor from my hunting gear. I put everything in it, including my boots. I have noticed that the elastic on my Bino harness is not very stretchy anymore after 3 season of use. I also don't wash my hunting gear nearly as often. I take them off in the garage, put them in the tote and turn it on. Then I run it again the night before I am going hunting. I don't know if you are interested in the ozonics but I believe this helps as well. I have not had a deer blow at me since using it. I have had them seem as though they didn't feel like something was quite right and leave the area but never blow out of there. I don't think it does much on very windy days but I think those morning and evenings with a light steady breeze it helps. I believe the ozone generator on my scent crusher tote is very similar, if not the same exact one just marked as scent crusher on my tote as the one in the link I provided to amazon. You may want to consider purchasing that ozone generator from amazon and getting your own tote making the same exact thing for less than half the cost. I wish I went that route and spent my gift cards on something else but I wasn't aware at the time that you could purchase ozone generators by themselves. I don't see why it wouldn't work exactly the same. If my scent crusher generator ever dies I will be purchasing this one to replace it. There are also tons of other options on amazon if you wish to look. Just type in ozone generator. https://www.amazon.com/WSTA-Portable-Generator-Purifier-Multipurpose/dp/B076PB2HD4/ref=sr_1_22?keywords=ozone+generator&qid=1571757718&sr=8-22 I have also used it for other thing such as my daughter absolutely disgusting smelling soccer cleats and shin guards. Takes the smell right out... Edited October 22, 2019 by ApexerER Add content 2
Don_C
I have been wanting to pick up one of these bags or totes for a while, but I would not use one in the house or overhead in the stand or blind. Personally I don't like the idea of breathing it in. There are dangers associated to breathing ozone. I was told by my microbiologist son that "ozone kills biological cells and does not discriminate." it doesn't stop at odor causing bacteria, it will damage lung tissue. I have enough going wrong with me as it is, I don't need to speed up the process! LOL!
virgil
I agree that nothing will totally eliminate human scent. Having said that, I try to do everything I can to practice scent control. I just bought the scent crusher roller bag. it just arrived this week and I haven't had a chance to take it out of the box. I do plan to use it this coming weekend. Cabin Fever
I'm a believer in the scent crusher system. I treat my clothes after every 2-3 hunts. I tend to be a scent freak anyways. I've had deer downwind of me many times, that might put their nose up in the air trying to figure out what "it" is, but they just don't make the connection and walk away unalarmed. I've even had them walk up to me from downwind, but since I don't smell like a threat, they just wander off. I also use the "Scent Crusher Go" vehicle unit. It's really nice to use after you had fast food, pizza or something else smelly in the truck! After I get out, I'll leave the truck running with the Scent Crusher Go unit running for ~20min. When it's done, the truck has zero odor! As others have mentioned, it does kill elastic though!
